European Antibiotic Awareness Day 18th November

The overuse of antibiotics for colds and flu has been highlighted ahead of European Antibiotic Awareness Day 18th November, but the long-term use of antibiotics for acne has been overlooked as a contribution towards resistance.

Nearly three quarters of young people suffer from acne, a condition which can make them feel incredibly self-conscious at a time in their lives when 'image' is often important. Many of them are prescribed topic acne creams with those suffering from persistent acne often being prescribed the oral antibiotic Tetracycline.

Antibiotics have side-effects and overuse means that many are becoming less effective. Lumie Clear light therapy offers acne sufferers - and parents of teenagers needing treatment - a proven and safe alternative to antibiotics.

In clinical trials of light therapy people with mild to severe acne noticed a significant improvement in their skin in less than 12 weeks*.

Michelle from Liverpool bought a Lumie Clear to treat her acne and saw a significant improvement within 3 months.

"I have used my Lumie Clear for 12 months now and am still very impressed with my results. In my video you can see I was suffering with a severe flare up of cystic acne and was desperate for help.

"My GP was not very concerned when my skin was rapidly worsening over 4 weeks and gave me antibiotic after antibiotic - all useless - before agreeing to refer me for a second course of roaccutane. I'd previously had great success with the drug five years earlier but had to finish early due to sudden onset of depression symptoms.

"After my fantastic results last summer I continue to use Lumie Clear about once or twice a month for hormonal spots but I have had no recurrence of the cystic acne.

"I highly recommend this device, I only wish I had used the Lumie clear from the initial breakout as it would have prevented my scarring which remains fairly obvious.

"Have a look at my video below to see the results for yourself. I used no other products or medication, just Lumie Clear."
