Final countdown to SwimBritain

There’re only a few days left until the SwimBritain relay event at London Fields Lido and the LumieSwim team are starting to get nervous. Sunday 29th September is the big day and the four girls are fairly confident they can each swim 1000m... they're just not sure how long it will take. When asked how team member Charlie felt about the race ahead, she said, “Just a bit terrified!”. With the recent change of weather, they’re probably just thankful that the outdoor pool will be heated.

Comedian and star swimmer David Walliams launches SwimBritain at the London Fields Lido earlier this year.

When the team began training they couldn't manage even 500m so they've made excellent progress. And Olivia's realised that by not concentrating on counting the lengths, she actually completed more. Could this be a winning tip? Millie found this week the most difficult so far and struggled to fit more than one session but with Lauren back from holiday the team are hoping for a full turn-out for the remaining training sessions and a big boost in motivation.

Since it's the last blog before the event, this week’s SwimBritain training tip is a double whammy with advice from elite swimmer, Matt Johnson and some wise words from his dedicated dad, Ian:

Good luck to everyone competing and don't forget to let us know how you did on Facebook or Twitter. Go Lumie!
