Rebecca Jelbert is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist working within Outlook South West LLP, a private organisation that provides mental health services within Cornwall primary care.
Rebecca has trained in various psychotherapies, and currently provides Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to individuals presenting a number of different mental health difficulties in Cornwall.
Over the last 12 months Rebecca has been heavily involved in the development and implementation of an innovative new intervention package for people suffering with SAD, combining light therapy with self help based CBT and a gloomy weather alert system provided by the Met office. This intervention is believed to be the first of its kind nationally, and represents a partnership between Outlook South West, NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly and the Met Office.
Preliminary results have shown that both the light box and CBT materials appeared to be very well received by those people with SAD involved in the pilot last year, and Rebecca continues to play a lead role in shaping and evaluating this new service with the overall aim of building an evidence base to guide wider provision of similar services across the UK.
