British Swimming

As the official light therapy supplier to British Swimming, Lumie is providing products, like Bodyclock Advanced to athletes on the national team to improve and regulate their circadian rhythm (or internal body clock) so that they feel more refreshed, energised and ready to compete.

Like most professional athletes, swimmers endure a long and demanding training schedule that means they need to start their day at around 5.00am. This constant routine of waking up early, especially during the dark winter months, can eventually take its toll on an athlete’s performance as their circadian rhythm falls out of synch with their day leaving them feeling tired, sluggish and lacking in energy.

Research suggests that using a dawn simulator, like Bodyclock Advanced, can boost mood, productivity and energy levels. Each morning it resets your circadian rhythms helping to keep your sleep/wake cycle on track; at night, the fading sunset is the natural way to wind down.

"I’ve had mine for about six weeks and use it every night. I like the way it works and will continue to use it.”  Mark Foster, Olympic athlete

"I think they are worthwhile, especially in the winter months when it’s cold and dark -  they will help you feel more awake.”  Hannah Miley, Olympic althlete

As well as helping British Swimming, Lumie has also worked with athletes from other sporting fields including the British Rowing and British Canoeing teams.
