I've just started using a Brightspark lamp, and am finding that I end feeling sick and headachey for the rest of the day.

For the past two days I have had the light on for half an hour, first thing in the morning, and I sit within two feet of it.

Has anyone else had the same experience, or am I doing something wrong?

Hi Melly,When I started using mine(brightspark),I had slight headaches, soI moved the light a little further away, I use it 3-4 feet away and now have no problems.

You aren't looking right at it most of the time are you? That can cause headaches.

You need to do other things w/ the light shining above you so it can hit your lower eyelids. this is apparently how we absorb the benefits of light into our pineal and adrenal glands. You can glance at the light a bit, kind of like you'd do if you were out in the sun.

Half and hour might be too much at a time for you too. I get a different side effect if I spend half an hour, I get a drug like sleepiness. So 20 mins is my morning limit and maybe another 10 min hit later if I do get really tired, it will revive me.

Thanks for the replies and advice.

I don't look directly at the light, but it is currently at my eye level, so I will move it and position it higher.

I'll also cut down the time I use it to 10 minutes, and then build it up from there.

I might try putting the bright spark on it's end to achieve the light above the eyes effect...

Hi ally

I use mine on its end, standing up next to my computer monitor. Or if you have an older monitor you can sit it along the top. This seems to have helped me

I find using my lightbox for about 30mins in the morning the most useful. I had been using it in the afternoon as well, but have found I sleep a little better if I miss the afternoon session. For some strange reason, I feel better if I use the light on its side.
