Hi everyone, over the years I've experienced both spring and autumn hypomania.Although this year has been much better(which I think is down to the light-box).One piece of advice I can offer is DO NOT make any major decisions or purchases during these periods!

Good advice - I think you should post that on the "what I have learnt" thread - I've had the credit cards to back up my winter spending spree as well!

I only ever have spring hypomania Hadrian but that's advice is invaluable. Many of my 'bad' decisions have been made during these times

Ive not really thought much about it, but I must admit I do go a bit bonkers in the Spring.

Scary thing is, that leaves major decisions to be made in summertime... (?)

Erf.

How can I avoid major decisions? Completely! ;)

Oh god that's so true! Don't know how many jobs and courses I've left in spring and autumn! And last October went out for a coffee, happened to pass a travel agent and ended up booking a 5* tour down the Nile. Still paying that one off!

But how do you stop making stupid decisions because at the time they seem to make perfect sense? It's only afterwards you think 'oh oh'!

It is difficult to put off big decisions, for me the answer is to be aware that I'm not best equipped to make decisions at this time of year so I know I have to make an extra effort to think them through and to canvas opinions from those that I really trust and to LISTEN to what they say.

I also try to pre-plan decisions where possible so I've done the logic in the better months of the year.

In one of my hypo periods about 3 years ago I went into a nissan dealer with my friend, got my car valued and was ready to purchase a top of the range Micra convertable. My very best friend said right we will go for lunch and discuss it and thankfully within that hour managed to talk me out of it phew!!!!!!

I become more active in the spring, but I put it down to the fact, at least partly, that I'm more lively without my winter support AD's
