I read an article recently that said that people who have SAD are generally very creative. We can feel so much more than most and can therefore be able to describe (through words/art etc) our most deepest thoughts ie our essences of the seasons.

Ive come across a few songs recently, where I feel that the composer may have SAD, (I wonder about John Lennon) and some emotional paintings too.

Maybe we can capture the essence of SAD and earn a fortune.

So at last Ive found a SAD symptom which will benefit us.

Think ive had too much light today, starting to get grandiose ideas again!

Hi,

Can you name the songs? I`ve been trying to make a cd of some songs I like but can't remember any!

Take a look at the forum topic 'favourite feel good music'.

Most of mine have already been included.

I was feeling pretty rotten a couple of weeks back and I turned up at our leisure centre pretty low. The whole of the reception instantaneously burst into song (conducted by a soft toy gorilla!)-Ive got sunshine on a cloudy day, when its cold outside ive got the month of may. - I blubbed. How lovely.

Reading all my messages back since joining, Im beginning to reckon that my life is pretty wickedly strange.

I'm quite creative, but couldn't write or compose. More practical things... crafts etc.

Hmm, not sure about me. I enjoy photography when I have the energy, but my drawing or painting skills are very poor.

I'm with paulst.

Normally, I do think I'm more introspective and sensitive than most folks, but in the wintertime it's an effort for me to think. And I wish I could earn a living off my introspection and sensitivity!

I'm creative in summer and love writing, but in winter I can hardly get the brain power to string 2 words together in any coherent manner! Wish I could write when I'm down, though, as maybe I'd be able to get rid of some of those annoying repetitive thoughts if I made them into a story and got them out of my poor tired brain!

Just to put the record straight guys...

I like creative writing, card making etc but rarely have the motivation to actually do anything about it LOL

I like to read too but I don't seem to be able to absorb the information. It does my head in having to read the same paragraph over and over and over and over!!!

Suzie! I do that with the reading too! Makes things difficult at work sometimes!!!
Overall I'm a pretty creative person - I did a music degree at uni and I've always done creative writing too (tho admittedly not much these days!!)

Suzie!!! Thank goodness you said that! I was just writing an email to a friend telling them (with a tear running down my face) that I was looking for a winter hobby (not being very crafty and all) and that I like to read but I just can't seem to absorb anything...

What a strange relief!

Y'know, sometimes I think I do convince myself during this time of year that I'm just a stupid person. Hard to believe it's SAD doing all this damage!

Anyhow, you get a hug. *hug* It's not just me, then!

I have to find a really stimulating book (better off with fact books). The worst is when Ive actually read a whole chapter, and ive not taken anything in at all - my eyes have scanned, the brains disengaged.

I often think about doing a course, but am unable to do a whole year course.

Id love to be a midwife, but SAD does not allow me to forfill my dreams. Working nights, coursework and working in a warm building without much light would not be conducive to a healthy birth. I must try lambing.

I'm a creative person, or at least I used to be. Lots of music and arty crafty stuff. In my head I still am, but I very rarely seem to find the time or motivation to do anything.

I love reading, and it's a great way to escape for me. But I'm in danger of getting nothing done if I have a good book! It activates my 'lazy' button!

Glad I'm not the only one xx

I used to be so intelligent but all I can do now is work doing the things I know as the things I don't know just go over my head.

Have you ever had the feeling when you are driving a car and you arrive at your destination and think 'how did I get here'? That's how I feel about reading. I'm looking at the words, they are going in but at the end of it 'I know nothing'!!

It's like I am on auto pilot.

Im a bit loopy because I enjoy Ancient History, I can spend hours reading books and on line, so not really very creative but certainly keeps me busy.(When I have the energy).
