Hi earthangel! Welcome! (AlthoughI don't feel I can quite say that since I only joined today too!!)
Best thing I can advise is to have a wee look around the forum for heaps of info on all sorts of things! That's what I've been doing for the day! :)

Hi guys, I’m only 19 but have been looking into SAD recently as I have felt so low for no apparent reason. The more I read about SAD the more I think this might be my problem. Was just wondering if you guys have all been diagnosed with SAD by a doctor or not and is it worth the hassle of trying to get diagnosed. Really don’t want to end up being put on medication as medication for other problems in the past has left me “zombified”. Should I go to a doctor or try light therapy and see if it works?

Hi Beccaf,

Only you can decide what to do about your condition. If you have any sort of depressive disorder you should get some medical help,if you have been feeling low for no apparent reason then that is a good reason to see your GP to try and establish why.You obviously don't have to have medication if you don't want it.

You can hire SAD lamps to see if they work for you.

HI beccaf, welcome to the forum. If you arent certain about sad it might be a good idea to check with your doctor and discuss whether you need medication or not, if not he/she might reccommend light therapy.
