I have two new pet gerbils. They seem to be ideal apartment-pets. They make me smile. I won't be seeing them for a little while because my parents are watching them for me until they come to my place to visit again. I bought them in Harrisburg with mom's encouragement (and advice, thankfully!)... their home will be with me in PIttsburgh when they finally make the trip!

Sometimes it's these silly little things that make me smile again... but my apartment has been depressingly quiet and lonely. All I have to keep me company are my tropical fish, and my gourami died two weeks ago.

I've got two little boy gerbils, so I named them Dr. House (after a favorite TV show) and "Boss" after Bruce Springsteen.

It's a great improvement over my old betta fish's name. I was at a loss on what to name him, and I'd just been shopping. Named him "Manwich."
