Hi, I bought the Sunray 100 about a month ago now hoping that it would help with getting up on these dark mornings. Not once have I woken up with just the light, its a good job it has an alarm function as well.

I am very disappointed.

Can anyone suggest anything that may help.

Thanks

Hi ya JAX

The light never wakes me up in the morning, the alarm does. But If I havent already ducked my head under the covers before Ive woken up, I find that my mood is brighter, as ive already managed to get a little light through my eyelids, and im almost ready to get up. Without it, it would be like waking up in the middle of the night, and my eyes are so heavy that they wont open.

See how you get on.

Me x

Im sorry it didnt work for you, I must admit I use both an alrm and a dawn simulator and so far have been ok. What I did find, was that it was easier to get up, purely because the room was filled with light instead of darkness, perhaps it will work better the longer you use it. I hope you do start to feel better soon, please keep in touch so we can support each other.

I use an alarm as well (I've always used a minimum of two alarms anyway!)> I am much more awake when the alarm goes off though and then wake up fully much more easily plus feel less headachy.

I'd add an alarm at the end of the sunrise cycle and see how you feel when you wake up.

I will also be getting a dawn simulator before the next SAD season. Hopefully within two months if my insurance company finally responds. I am almost tempted to say they shoved my letter aside.

My hopes are that it will ease me into awakeness a bit more gently than my lightbox full-on (it's on a timer). Do you wake facing the lamp? You may want to try moving it around. I think it's also important to get to sleep on a schedule, and watch your activities before bedtime that might make it harder to sleep restfully at nighttime. I need to make myself turn off the TV 20 minutes before bedtime!

HI amalthea, good advice, I think with many things a routine is a good idea. Try whenever possible to go to bed at the same time and get up at the same time, in theory its an excellent idea, sadly at the weekend, my routine does tend to fall apart a little.
