I have a problem with early waking/sleeping which some times is worse than others. When I've been on ADs in the past it seems to have gone away which makes me wonder if it's connected to SAD in any way. I don't really use a light much because I've never had much success (quite possibly my fault). I'm just trying to live with it nowadays, it's usually not too bad in the scheme of things.

The light at night just made me wake up earlier. So I don't use it at night anymore. ADs don't seem to make it go away but they only upped them 3 weeks ago so I will have to wait one more week. Thanks for your words tom.

Early morning waking is more usually a part of clinical, versus seasonal, depression. If evening light doesn't put it right then again, it would seem to be an indication that there is more to your condition than SAD.

I say this because that is the route I went along myself. Early morning waking was one of my first symptoms; and for various reasons now, it is again. Evening light helped control it but it didn't put a dent in my other symptoms like depression, fatigue, sugar cravings, brain fog, etc etc.

I travelled a long road and am now about at the end of it, ready to branch onto another path. You might find it helps to have a deep think about your own symptoms and how they might be related to your life and your state of health. Speaking for myself, I wasted a lot of time in an 18-month determined effort to treat the SAD, not to mention a lot of money on light therapy kit.

I know that I have to get my life back on track. Summertime has alot of things to do. I am a homemaker with no kids left at home. I try to spend alot of time outside the house just so I am not alone. But as soon as the time changes that's when all this starts and it has been the last three years. Winter you are stuck inside and the dull days don't help.
