Hi, folks.

I just thought I'd post about a little "curveball" I got tossed lately. I feel like my winter clothes are turning against me. ;) As if I needed any complications, I got some sort of allergic reaction on my shoulders and upper back. I finally gave in and saw doc this past week, and she says I might be allergic to nylon...!

I bumbled through my closet for the rest of the week, and took to wearing a t-shirt or thermalwear to keep my sweaters from irritating my skin.

Anyhow, I'm struggling along with this for now... hoping I can adapt and/or figure out what this allergy is all about. I suppose it could end up not being a nylon allergy, but only time will tell.

Sorry if this is a little silly of me to post, but maybe someone out there has experience with a nylon allergy. I guess it's a dye they use in nylon that makes it bad, but I dunno if it has to be on the tag of clothing if they use nylon thread in it...? I'm already horribly allergic to wool, so this makes wintertime that much more hateful to me! (only half-joking, here)

PS- I'm posting at 7:30am on a Saturday because I was so exhausted after work yesterday that I went straight to bed and woke up at 4:30am this morning. Gah!

Hi amalthea, I hope you feel a little better today and manage to find out why you had a reaction, these things always seem to happen at the worst time dont they.

Thanks, Paul. I am feeling better. It's just frustrating, because honestly, I was thinking, "What if I can't dress like a normal person anymore in the wintertime...? What if I have to wear all this weird stuff? How hard is it going to be to buy clothes?!"

I've settled down a bit. It's funny how SAD can make a bad thing look 100x's worse. It's still going to be a challenge, and honestly, I haven't had the energy to make changes in my wardrobe/go shopping. Maybe I'll shop at lunchtime this week.

I slept 11 hours right after work on Friday and have been sleeping away a lot of this weekend. :(

About SAD making things 100x worse, I'm so relieved that I'm finally getting helpful treatment for my osteoarthritis. I was walking in the snow yesterday (our first real snow of the year), and thinking about how I'd be feeling, day after day, without the medication... couple that with my mood and the exhaustion, and it made me wonder if I would have even made it through this year if I had been hurting constantly and even less inclined to be physically active with the arthritis. I get really down about my weight fluctuations, and I'm actually seeing my weight going down a bit, now. I may be exhausted, but I just don't have the crushing depression this year. I am so thankful that I am in a better place this year to deal with the SAD.

Sad always seems to make things worse for me. I went shopping today and found I just couldnt cope with it, I feel so tired and stressed, I think this must be the worst year I can remember. Its so frustrating, one day I feel ok and the next day, terrible. Sorry if im having a moan, its just one of those days, I might feel better tommorrow.
