they dont get winter sad as such but i know they get hypomania and they call it spring fever.
also i was born in australia and left when i was one year old and the doctor told me this MIGHT have contibuted to my sad.
another interesting thing the doctor said that there is a theory(no concrete proof) that people with brown eyes such as myself which are born in the southern hemisphere as are more likely to suffer from sad. you notice that people from scandinavai counties with little light all have blue eyes and blonde hair. to absorb more light?

actually most people in the tropics are dark skin, eyes and hair to protect them from the UV RAYS because the sun gets nearly overhead at noon all year!people in northern countries dončt get exposed to that much UV thats why we dončt need that extra pigment to protect us

I am very fair skinned, pale blue eyes and blonde hair. In fact my father is Swedish so I think that blows that theory out of the water lol!!

I did read that there is a higher percentage of people in the northern hemisphere, ie the scandanavian countries, suffering with SAD. This is partly due to that fact that they get shorter days and less sunlight but also people with fair skin tend to cover up in the sun to protect themselves from burning. This probhibits the skin being able to absorb vitamin D from the sunshine, which helps to eleviate depression.

blonde, blue, and very fair here.

If most of the world's population is dark hair/brown eyes, it would stand to reason that most SADites would be as well. Though there's also going to be alot of us blue eyed's too, coming from Northern countries is how we evolved as fair skinned people.
