So weird!! When I'm on a 'down day' I'm always totally toally exhausted plus feel so down and dark. But the past few days, my mood has been fine - though the tiredness is still very much with me. Makes it easier to cope with mind!
Does anyone else have one or the other??

My med deals with the mood largely. I still have the tiredness and inertia etc that is associated with SAD

My SAD symptoms can like a bag of bits and bites; every day brings a different combination. Its not quite that volatile, but yes, the symptoms shift around and I get some bizarre mixtures. I seem to be coming out of the worst of it, but I spent a few mths crying at the drop of a pin, somedays bad or better. Motivation could be little or nil too. Then I'd have these odd days where I had the motivation, so I'm all ready to catch up a bit, but it was a bad crying day and if I set out to do something I'd start tearing up for no reason. It was like the two symptoms short circuited in my brain and melded together. How's that for weird!

I have the same thing every day is different. Bits and bites is right. The meds are helping now it has been 4 weeks since the dose was upped so I am now starting to cope alittle better. I have the tiredness still and the sleep problems I hope seem to be turning around. The adivan helps with that alittle. Jeanne just think Spring is around the corner and don't beat yourself up over it. I haven't cleaned in 3 weeks. My hubby always says it will be there when you get to it.lol.

I take a natural supplement that really helps w/ the tired, adrenal glandulars. Between that and light lamp, I get little fatigue now. The adrenals also boost my mood a bit and have brought my body temp up a bit, so I can take the cold of winter and get out more.

I order them from the net, since we can't really buy them in Canada becasue of the mad cow scare. Its best to get them sourced from New Zealand where they haven't had that problem because of better regulations.

My tablets make me tired but thats because they are meant to, so I only take them at night. I have felt more stressed than normal, my moods have been a little erratic but now that Christmas is sorted, I should be ok.

That's sweet of you SGL! Did I mention I am singing on Radio 1 Scott Mills Christmas Party on Friday, my birthday? LOL!

Lord knows how I'm going to manage it. I have my portable lamp now, so even though it's a 6am start I can use it on the coach on the way. I'm really tired at the moment. We won't be getting back till after midnight.

I meant to respond to Kaz_me, but I've been a bit preoccupied with looking up info as I'm going to the doc today and I'm going to see what she can tell me about Wellbutrin and any other options.

Kaz - I tend to get very tired... very run down. And as much as I may want to be in a good mood, sometimes I just can't muster up much energy. Sometimes my mood just kind of levels to the point that I don't feel happy, I don't feel down... I just feel neutral and any other feelings that come along just don't last.

If there are a lot of demands put on me (socially, for example), my mood tends to drop faster because I just can't deal with anything "extra" while I'm a zombie... Just so tired. I've been awfully snippy with mom, lately... she's asking me to do her "little favors." She doesn't understand that I can barely keep up with my own stuff. I'm actually running out of dishes to eat off of, right now. It doesn't help that I have a respiratory infection and keep waking at night-time.

I remember those days. My daughter is 21 now. She was in Canadian Idol but didn't make it to the show. She has a broadway voice and that wasn't what they wanted.
I do remember all the school plays and choirs etc that we had gone to what a joy they were.
Now I just want christmas to be overwith because then comes spring.
Good Luck PurpleIvy and Me I hope your son does very well with his school Naivity Play. Best of Luck to both of you.

paul, I appreciated your little note even if I just now saw it.

Today was a rough day, really. Things didn't go well with the doctor, but I'm considering my options now.

I'll sort things out.

Hey you guys seems to be coping really well, it kinda cheered me up shows there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have just spent 2weeks nearly mooching around my bed or under a duvet in the living room. I don't think the doctors have got my meds right this year. Well its a double edge sword too much makes me a zombie too little makes me a little irrational. Just been reading through this forums and tought it could maybe help to speak to people who understand where I am coming from. I am currently suffering the worse I have ever done for about three years, last year my OH thought I had made progress. If you are living in the UK you will understand tht we have had the worse Summer for a long time and I am sure that why I feel so bad.

My family aren't speaking to me due to me quitting my well paid good prospects job in November, I just couldn't continue. But its hard to explains it is like I shut down during winter and I feel so cold. Doesn't help that I have bad circulation so my hands and feet feel cold anyway. I am only 23years old and really SAD.

Hi Lozzie
We all feel the same way sometimes. Today is a good day for me. I live in Ontario Canada and today the sun is shinning.
Sorry to hear you don't have a supportive family. Unless they feel as you do they just don't understand.
Just think today is the shortest day of the year and tomorrow they start to get longer. Come on Spring!!!!

Just found this thread - sorry I'm a bit after the fact!

The permanent tiredness is what I find hardest to cope with. I know exercise helps, but finding the energy to get started on it can be a bit problemstic! I also don't understand how I can spend all day wanting to curl up and go to sleep, and then not be able to stay asleep for more than an hour or two at night. Just once I'd like to get up in the morning and not be just as tired as I was when I went to bed!

Sorry I missed your birthday PurpleIvy - hope you had a good one.

WhistlingPig I know what you mean about the tiredness. I can't sleep all day but I would like to. I do get 6 hrs of sleep at night 10:30pm to 4:30 am then I just doze and get up about 7am.

I am realizing now how important it is going to be for me to exercise... Even yoga before bed.
Easier said than done?

Well, I know it will be hard at first. I am going to start a journal to track physical activity, fatigue, food and vitamin intake and mood.

If I want to feel better, I have to help myself!

During the hols, I stopped taking my medication, stopped exercise and had a lovely christmas. Now though things are dropping again and I am having 12 hours sleep again (wake up numerous times but sleep again straight away). This is fine during the holidays but when the work routine starts again Im stumped!!

Just began to realise that there isnt actually anything wrong with me(!!) its society pushing us ultra hard. If I lived in some parts of Europe, Id be getting huge amounts of sun and having a siesta in the afternoon. How cool is that? Here I dont get either.

Society these days wants more and more from us, unfortunately I dont have anything else to give - theyve had my all already! I just dont fit in to Britains pattern of:- work, pick up kids, feed kids, homework with kids, kids to bed, husband coming in late from work exhausted, feed husband, then s l e e p. What a life! Wheres my time?

You can tell by my tone of message that I am dropping. Dont worry will start my SAD busting routine again on 2nd January.

Amalthea, crikes, look after yourself flower. Hopefully youre accident is natures way of introducing you to your new perfect doctor. Sounds like your guardian angel has a plan in mind!

Well, unfort this doc is across the state from where I live. I may possibly see him again if I can't find someone local... but I couldn't go to see him until February, and I'd have to hope he could get me in when I can make it down there...
