I want to get a desk lamp at work to supplement my light therapy regimen that I use in the morning and evenings. I find I'm exhausted at 2pm or so and can barely make it through the rest of the day.

How likely is it that I'd find some benefit with a 27w flourescent daylight lamp? The specifications on the bulb are 6500k.

It appears nice and bright.

I thought you were going to get the one from home depot. Or is that the one.

This one is from home depot, yes. I went to look at the one I thought I was going to buy, and then re-thought it when I looked at the one next to it, which seemed brighter.

If it seems brighter that's good. You should ask them if you could take it into a dark area and see how bright it really is.

So like I told you before It doesn't matter what people say about you it should not change the way you live your life. You are a customer and if they don't want to help you then find someone else in the store that does. Just say I was hoping you could help me more than the last person I was talking to. See what that gets you.

Ick, I bought it and carried it around, since I don't drive and I had a little more shopping to do. They weren't going to give me a bag to carry it in! I went and begged for a trash bag, so I could get the rest of my shopping done (mind you, it's pouring rain all day long outside -- just buckets and buckets!)

Brought it home, plugged it in... and it wouldn't turn off! Then, I got it to turn off, but then it wouldn't turn on again! It's a "touch-lamp." I ought to know better, but the one in the store worked nicely. It also is a bit brighter than the one that operates by switch and looks much nicer for work. It's brighter because the actual bulb isn't as closed-in as it is with the other model... it has more room on the sides of it so more light actually gets *out.*

Hrm... not sure what to do. Try again with another touch-lamp or get the one that isn't *quite* as bright...? I was questioning, too, if the other might have been brighter if I'd switched their bulbs in the store.

The lady there was rude to me because I wanted a bag to put the lamp in. I am getting really short-tempered. The grocery store was a nightmare... Nearly had a panic attack and almost started yelling, cause people were pushing by you... Even sales people, and I think they ought to be polite and not jump in front of you when you're pushing a cart! Coulda run them all down. Then one lady politely said, "Excuse me" as she inched by and I cooled my jets.

It doesn't help that I'm on prednisone. It can make you go into rages, but I'm normally quite timid and quiet. It's just that there seem to be so many more people, all in a hurry, at the holidays.

Wait a minute... what were we talking about, anyhow? Oh yeah, so I guess I'll take the lamp back tomorrow and decide tonight what I want to do. It's hard to find one so bright. I could look in other stores while I'm visiting my parents and see if I see one I like better.

Amalthea Breath Breath Breath, People these days have no respect for anyone. They are all out for themselves. I feel for you and will be thinking of you over the holidays. My mom and dad were just saying the same thing about home depot. They were looking for something and the sales people were rude. Hope you feel better soon. Take the lamp back. Go out with your parents if you can and see if there is a better light with not such a rude sales person. That is one thing we don't need at this time of year.
Take care.

Thanks, SGL. The prednisone makes me hyper, which isn't what I need this time of year. Mostly, I try to walk off the energy. If I'm home, I'm eating like crazy!
