SGL I am the total opposite to you. Sleep 24/7, carb cravings and usual weight gain during SAD months is approx 14lb.

Don't like the sweets or junk food. I did find a link on canada.com that says some people can have reverse symptoms in the winter. Now I am taking the printout to the GP in Jan. Just to prove to her that there is more to sad than she thinks. Sometimes I feel like the educator.

I take imovane 7.5mg when I go to bed. It helps me sleep and if I wake up to early I take 5mg of Adivan. I am going to ask her if there is anything different that we can do because I am to tired all day to do much of anything except go the YMCA.

I also wish I could find a sad clinic in southern Ontario canada. Or even a support group to go to. It would help alot.

I find here as a support group as good as anything. I don't even have to leave the house, since we got the PM service back we can talk one-to-one if we want as well.

Thanks PurpleIvy I know that but I still would like to be able to go to a support group and meet other people. Not having very many friends and the ones you do have avoid you in the winter isn't easy. Plus I just got an email from our Mental Health Dept. Saying that the closest place for me was 1hr away. I hate driving in the winter.

I have read that you can have reverse symptoms like insomnia weightloss and no appetite I am tired all day and want to fall asleep arount 8pm but I know I will be awake at 1 or 2am so I force myself to stay up til 10pm. that way I sleep till 3;30 or 4am. I am going to ask the GP if there is anything else I can take to sleep better besides what I am taking now. It doesn't seem to work very well.

Amitriptyline certainly help me to sleep but they arent as effective at dealing with low moods and feelings.

I have to see the GP. This is crazy. I know I started to feel better with sleep at the end of Jan. But I was on 40mg of paxil then and now I am only on 30mg. I don't understand it. Oh and make that 28lbs gone got on the scale earlier.

I think your days are an hour longer in Canada than ours in London UK, but then your weather is severe. I'm suffering from rigors (violent shaking and fever) which after paracetomol break out into all night sweating. No sleep last night but fortunately the citalopram keeps my mood going. Weight loss can be demoralising; I tend to keep bananas and chocolate to hand throughout day and night; and have soups at all hours. I've only lost 7lbs - but your 28lbs loss sounds worrying .. hang in there SGL! ... the longer days will gather pace now. Are you well enough to take a short holiday somewhere kinder?

I used amitriptyline in small doses some years back to deal with a short term paranoia that affected me horribly at the moment I settled down to sleep. It's a good old fashioned drug that gave me a slight mood uplift and some decent hours of sleep. Although when I tried the higher doses for a period of depression, I couldn't really get on with it at all. Citalopram is the best AD I've used.

Aaron I can't afford a holiday somewhere kinder. The GP didn't seem to think 20lbs was much but I will have to call her in the new year because I am scared that it is to much.

I get about 6 hours sleep but that is not enough and I already take imovane to help me sleep. I will have to tell her that it is not working. I get tremors on the forhead sometimes and I have the ringing in the ears. they are side effects and the pharmacy lady says the ringing should go away by Jan. Not soon enough. I am on Paxil because I tried others and my body couldn't handle them.
