Yeah, sell Britain to some gullible foreigners; and use the proceeds to relocate the populous somewhere with decent sunshine all year round, and less of a rip-off culture :)

Welcome back Barnsey, but sorry you have the need to return.

I am actually not the author of this thread, it is a duplicate thread started by Gingdave. Somehow the management have decided to delete his post in this thread with a reply, rather than the one without.

Anyhow, my comment still stands. Any takers?

I was on holiday in Bulgaria during the summer.
Two weeks of constant sunshine.....wait I have a point here!

Got depressed while on holiday! Did not know what the hell was going on.

Anyway, even though I was on holiday which surely made up for the crap summer, I'm still bad with SAD.

they deleted it....awwwww shame

the gist of it...
Putting forward some reasons to abandon (or trial an alternative to) the current system of BST/GMT. This could reduce carbon dioxide emissions, reduce road deaths, facilitate business with Europe, potentially boost tourism, increase outdoor activity, promote healthier lifestyles and enhance the well being of UK citizens.

surely a change of some sort towards lighter evenings would help some people. yes, ive suffered even in the height of a sunny summer, but each person has a threshold and the extra light may help.
(forums are so tightly controlled, you must post in this fashion... sir, yes sir)

Yes - I'm not sure why there is a need to change the clocks. For me it is a locking-in of the misery of dark evenings.

Fortunately I'm working increasingly from home which means that I can get a lot of my work done in the darkness and can get out in the winter daylight.

A lifestyle that is more outdoors would help but in the winter we don't get sunlight that is bright enough that it would make a difference for me.

I don't think being outside all day in the winter could replace my lightbox and visor.
