hi everyone,
i hope everyone has been feeling better with the brighter days we've had recently. it has been helping my mood when the sun is out.
however, i still feel very anxious, just wondering if anyone else feels this way on sunny days. i feel a lot better...but still anxious

Hi Cliff I still have anxiety which is definately better when the sun is out but nonetheless im still anxious. I try to keep myself busy an exercise definately helps although my motivation for that at the mo is preety low! Do you have a light box? I have recently bought one and use it for 1/2 hour each morning, it definately is helping me.

Do you do anything in the way of self-care to help with anxiety? A nice hot bath, good music, a movie, some hot tea, some exercise or anything you'd consider to be pampering yourself?

It might help. :) Sometimes when we've got troubles we forget to take care of ourselves. :)

hi, thanks for your comments. i don't own a lightbox, they're pretty expensive and i can't afford one for the forseeable future. i have been doing somethingsto help the anxiety.
i find that when it has been a clear, blue day and i am sitting in the park i feel fine. it's only when i put myself into surroundings where there are a lot of people, or if i know that i need to do something (such as a meeting or an interview) i get terribly anxious.
i also find that when i wake up on in the mornings i have a horrible feeling which i can only describe as bleh.
any thoughts?

cliff g try changing all your lightbulbs in the house to a higher watt. It will make things alot brighter. they say that helps somewhat.

I find that the "Daylight" or "Natural Light" bulbs are more helpful to me than the regular household bulbs.

And, the brighter the better... as long as you don't suffer from eye-strain. If you do, you'll want to re-think the bulb location. Work areas and sleep areas deserve special consideration.

Work areas = to cut down eye-strain
Sleep areas and anywhere you typically sit around before bed = because daylight bulbs (and lightboxes) can "energize" you, which might not be so good before bedtime!

Also, I have a lamp I use at work that I got for $20 at Home Depot. It's a desk lamp. It does help me reduce fatigue/boost mood, but I still wouldn't trade it in for my light therapy boxes. The light is 6500K. Try to look for lights that are 5000K or above, I believe. I think this is a measure of light spectrum... Can't remember if daylight is 5000K.
