I am new here.....

I would like to start light therapy, but I am concerned that so much bright light might cause eye problems for me.

Has anyone had eye problems as a result of light therapy, either fluorescent or LED?

I read once that you should glance at the lightbox from time to time.

However, when I followed these instructions I really did feel that my eyes were being damaged and a slight dark spot in the centre of my eyes could be due to that or other causes. I used the lightbox on full power - 10,000 lux.

I have chosen not to follow those instructions anymore and dont glance directly at the light, just stare past it - I wont take the risk that it could get worse.

Wont knock the light box therapy otherwise, it really is a brilliant help on those low days.

I started using a light box at full power 10,000 lux about 3 weeks ago and as a one-off at the weekend looked directly at the box instead of staring past it and have come up with a sty-like sympton in my eye. Not quite sty-like as gone a bit puffy. Nice one, I know! Not very pretty! Anyway going to persist but not going to stare into the light box again - just past it! Caz
