I've just joined the forum today. BY way of introduction, I've had SAD for the last 12 years or so, since I was a teenager growing up in the Shetland Isles (great location to spend the winter if you're a SAD sufferer), and I was interested in people's opinions on the new types of lightboxes available, as I haven't really looked into recent developments for a while.
Does anybody have any personal experience of the difference between using a traditional lightbox, and one of the 470nm blue spectrum models, which I understand from doing a bit of reading this morning, function at the optimum spectrum for providing relief from symptoms?
My SAD makes me inclined to sleep in during the mornings, so I've never been able to make a routine of using a lightbox first thing in the morning, but have instead used it all day, every day at work, all year round. Interestingly I havcen't been using the box since I started my new job in January, and I have felt markedly more tired this year than I have in a number of years.
I've used a large, traditional lightbox for years, but I am looking for something a little more compact and inobtrusive for my new job when window rolls around this year (or earlier, given the circumstances).
I was looking at a LitePod "Compact", as I think it would sit very well on top of my existing PC Case and uplift into my eyes from a close distance, but I'd also like to hear if anybody has had any positive experiences of using the blue spectrum lights such as the lightship, or is able to offer a comparison?
