To be on the safe side it might be a good idea to have a word with your doctor.

Have to be careful with 5htp, its seems to be quite strong for one of those medications that you can buy over the counter.

I found 5htp reduced my nights sleep tremendously. I went to bed in the early hours and woke up refreshed in the morning. I loved this side effect though as I had previously spent 30 odd years feeling terribly sleepy! I can get loads of jobs done because I am motivated and not sleepy!

From my own personal experience... I stop taking 5htp or reduce the dosage if I feel minor side effects. I just say this as I seem to only need to take it for a few weeks or so. Then I feel slightly woozy and later sleepy again. Initially I was tempted to up the dose, but choose the opposite and felt hugely better - as if my serotonum (cant remember how to spell it sorry)levels were topped up and needed no more. Just a thought. After stopping them, I continued to feel good for weeks afterwards and enjoyed Halloween, Bonfire night, Christmas AND NEW YEAR for the first time in years last year. I think Ive only seen the new year in about 5 times in my life.

However, as always, a doctor is the best place to go and get advice, as I can only tell you my own experiences -

Take care

Me x
