A while ago, I asked a question about dawn simulators, but I didn't get an answer, so I'll broaden the question and try again.

Dawn simulators turn on slowly when they're programmed to, but if you don't turn them off manually, when do they turn off? Do they go off a few minutes after they turn on? An hour? Never? Or do they stay on until the dusk settings kick in?

Because of the way I plan to use the dawn simulator, this is an important question, but I can't find the answer with any of the product descriptions.

I'm particularly interested in the Sunbox, but if you have any dawn simulator, please tell me how it works. I plan to buy one, and my choice will be partially based on its behavior in this regard.

Hi TC (Top Cat?)

I've 2 different ones.

One you can plug any lamp (fitted with an incandescent bulb) into, which requires manually switching off.

The other is an LED desk lamp style one, which switches off automatically 1 hour after the sunrise complete time.

Both require manual activation of the sunset feature when you want to use it.

Neither are the product you are interested in.

Lumie dawn simulators generally work like this...

Say your alarm is set for 7am; the light will come on at 6:30 at a very low level, gradually reaching full brightness at 7am. Most people turn off the light once they're up and about but in case people dash out and leave them lit they will switch off automatically after about 10-20mins (models vary).

When you go to bed, you'd turn up the light again to start the sunset feature so this is completely separate.

Hope this helps but please ring the Lumie Careline 01954 780500 if you have any more queries - you'll get a speedier response!

oh dear, My lumie dawn simulator has never turned itself off, and sometimes I come home in the afternoon to find it still on. I often worry that if I havent remembered to switch it off and go on hol it will have been on the whole time. However, to date I have remembered!!

I just thought that was what it was supposed to do!

Perhaps this is why the bulbs seem to blow quite quickly!
