Hi,

Does anyone else have difficulty remembering things whilst in the middle of SAD season?

I know it affects my memory but every year it surprises me! I can forget something in a second, its so annoying. I was at work today, writing a complex document - a challenge this time of year - and I think to myself 'Oh I will include xyz' came to type it a second later and hadnt got a clue what it was!

I do find this time of year that I am spending my time fighting hard to concentrate my efforts of holding onto my job.

Cant wait for some sun!

I have difficulty remembering names - including my best mates!

I also mix up words in sentences which end up in some ridiculous phases - still they bring a laugh.

I must admit though that i find this trait quite useful as it tells me how strong the hold SAD has got hold of me. The stronger the hold, the worse my memory- and it can be very bad.

So now as soon as I start to forget some names I try to treat SAD asap else it turns into a dreadful time.

Saying that, I have ignored the symtoms during the last two weeks (been exceedingly well this winter, it now being Feb, I thought I was over the worst). I find myself struggling at the moment - want to sleep for hours and hours. Cant see the point in light, would rather sleep, after all if I sat in front of my lightbox I would be asleep within 3 minutes = timed that today!

Wheres my chocolate x

I too have really bad memory problems. Sometimes I go to the kitchen to get something and then forget completely what I am there for. Also in the evening I just seem to sit in front of the computer doing nothing but reading stupid stuff like weather forecasts and news which I have already read five times.
I get up with so many plans and then just get to the end of the day angry with myself because I have wasted the whole day. very depressing. I even made a schedule once to tell me what I should be doing at certain times during the day and I forgot to even look at it.

Like you Witt1 I often feel like I am losing my marbles. I am infront of my bright box right now. Have been for over an hour and it isnt helping at all. My wife wont say anything but I feel that she looks at me as a time waster. It really makes me feel sad sometimes.

My memory is appalling at the moment, especially at work, it's really embarrassing. Yesterday I left the office and had to go back in about 5 times within a couple of minutes for things I'd forgotten. People think I'm overreacting when I blame the weather. It's so grey at the moment, it really depresses me.

I have terrible problems with my short term memory. Also, sometimes, my short term memory is a problem! I have a good friend at work who looks after me and laughs with me (not at me about it). She comes on lunches with me and makes sure i remember to take me handbag back off the counter in the shop before i walk off without it, and writes notes for me so i don't forget the things i need to do. She's a diamond.
But my memory is one of the most frustrating things about this illness. in Summer i'm actually quite intelligent and on the ball. So it frustrates me that i feel like i have Alzeihmers (which due to this illness and memory problems occurring already i'm pretrified of getting) for 6 months when i know i can do it in the summer. That becomes a cycle of memory problems = frustration = stress = memory problems and so on!
