I represent a team of psychologists at University College London conducting research into the effects of depression. We're particularly interested in how emotional memories affect people suffering from depression. We are currently running a brain imaging study examining emotional memory and are looking for volunteers. The aim is to improve our understanding of how strongly emotional memories cause difficulties in depression, with the intention of improving treatment.
Basically we are seeking people who are currently suffering from depression and who are willing to have a brain scan (MRI scan - completely safe, no radiation) to help us find out more about the effects of memory in depresion. We compensate people for their time and pay for public transport travel expenses.
If you're interested in taking part please contact Dr Matthew Whalley on 020 7679 5365 or m.whalley@ucl.ac.uk.
We're running the study for another couple of months and are still looking for just a few more volunteers. If you're interested please get in touch for more information.
Sorry Matthew, sounds interesting but a trip to London is too far and complicated, as I live in Leicester. It would be interesting to see what's going on in my brain.
Is this study still going on? I guess it might be too late now. I haven't looked in here for a good 6 months or more (the awful summer drove me back). Might give you an email just in case.
