-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Johann,
Sorry to hear you have been suffering for such a long time - you are amoungst friends here, a lot of people who post have been suffering for a number of years. I do hope you have had some up times in the last five years as well as the down times. It is all too easy when we are feeling low to just concentrate on those times and forget the times when we did have a smile.
I am not in a postition to recommend any medication, but would say try St John's Wort - if you read previous posts on this forum you will find that many people have felt the benefits of this natural 'wonder drug'.
I would say that if you are feeling low from September through to spring, then there is a good chance you may suffer with SAD - there is a questionare on this site which may be helpful to you.
If I may be so bold I will recommend a couple of things which you can put in place easily, make your environment brighter for yourself, think about your decore in the rooms you spend most of your time in - does it make you happy?? and if not then maybe you can make some easy changes (sometimes just moving furniture can help). Also change your light bulbs to 150wts or daylight bulbs, this helped me in the past (before I brought my light box). You could also put your bedside lamp (or similar) on a timer, which goes off before your alarm clock...say 15 - 30 mins before, have a lower watt in this one though or it will wake you with a start! This is particularly helpful on the dark mornings which are now upon us. I hope you find this of some help to you - these are my kind of money saving ideas which will hopefully you will see benefit from before paying out for light boxes etc.
Best wishes Paula :-)
PS - another idea is, try to get outside, even 20-30 mins walk each day will help - hey borrow someone's dog if you need an excuse! It's a great time for meditation as well. Have fun and hope some of my ideas are helpful. Stay in touch and let me know how you get on.
Take care out there in the 'big bad world'.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi I am from Turkey and I have been living this problem in a sunny country and it is strange because I know nobody here like me. I can not share my problems with people, just with my doctor. We thought about light box but then started prosac 3 years ago. Now I wonder about using light box. Does anybody use it here and can give me some advise. Sorry about my bad English.
