I don't know why I didn't think of it before.... my mum was a homeopath (she died 4 years ago, tomorrows the anneversary) and I used to be treated with it all the time and it really worked.

I went to a party at my mums friends last night, and shes a homeopath, and I had a chat and she gave me a remedy called Nat Mur... and 2 hours later, I just burst into tears and cried my eyes out for a while, and I feel like, so much better today. I'm getting occasional panics but no where near as bad as I was last week.

I'd like to recommend to everybody to see a homeopath... I know you can buy the bottles in shops and things, but I don't advise you use those for things like this, they're more for things like colds and stuff.

Everyone is different, and for those who know nothing about homeopathy, when you're given a remedy it's because its suited to you, and it treats the whole of you. Which is why something that works for SAD for me, wouldn't work for you... so yeah, I highly recommend seeing a homeopath :)

Thanks for sharing with us about homeopathy. Is that the same as essential oils like what you get from Culpers?

If so, my partner swears by them. Maybe I should give them a go too!

I hope that tomorrow goes well for you being the anniversary of your Mum's death

Lets hope that you can remember her for all the good times you had together :D

Take care and we will be here for you if you need us :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

No it's not to do with essential oils... in fact, some essential oils, especially tea tree, aren't good to use if you're using homeopathy... it sort of, anti-dotes it.

Homeopathy is very hard to explain... it uses like, the essence of a certain thing, say a flower, and its diluted millions of times, and you take it in the form of a sugar pill. It's brilliant. It's such a powerful form of treatment, and it's safe, unlike side effects of doctors drugs and such.

You should look it up... I've lost touch with it a bit since my mum died, but I'm trying to pick up on it... I used to know everything about homeopathy when I was 11, now it all seems a bit vague!

Funnily enough, I've just back into that kind of stuff too. I went to see a homeopatth a few years ago, which was supposed to be at a health centre, but it was on some dodgy estate and was a tower block converted (you know the kind of estate in London you see on telly and would never dream of walking around unarmed). Well, she gave me 2 tablets and said I had to take 1 at the time and the other a fortnight later, which did seem very strange and after witnessing my old doctor attempt at doing accupuncture on me after seeing a proper chinese therapist, I don't have a lot of confidence in the NHS version of complentry therapy (the doctor left holes all down my legs which were bleeding as I left). The homeopath also told me I couldn't drink coffee while I was taking this course (which wasn't too much of a hardship) and use no form of mint, including toothpaste. I went to Holland and Barrett and could only find 1 make of toothpaste which wasn't mint, it just said naturally flavoured. To my absolute horror, it was Aniseed flavour which literally makes me sick. Cleaning my teeth became a nightmare situation, I detest Aniseed probably more than anything else on earth. I ended up cleaning my teeth once a day to make it a bit easier on myself and after 10 days of hanging over suffering, I gave up. I tried finding other flavours of toothpaste (which I know I have seen before) but everybody decided not to sell it at that particular time, which is the story of my life really!!!!!!!
Anyway, just happened to be reading a health magazine the other day, which was going on about the Bach flower remedy's and ended up in Holland and Barratt again last weekend looking at them. I picked up a leaflet and there was one for homeopathy with it (which they also sell). When I got home, I read through the leaflets and the one which stood out to me was the ACONITE - Symptoms are sudden, violent, brief - Anxiety, fear, restlessness, grief - high temperature with great thirst - insomnia.
All this basically sounds like a list of my symptoms, well some of anyway.
Do you know if these shop bought ones really are no good as I cannot afford to see a proper homeopath as I don't work and I'm desperatly trying to save up for a light box for later this year. I was thinking of getting some of these but don't want to waste my money. Do you also know if these extremes I had to go through last time were right as this leaflet jst says for your mouth to be free of strong flavours like coffe, mint and tobacco but it doesn't say you can't have them.
Maybe this lady you know, could do a question time on this site. Only kidding, I'm sure she's busy enough but wouldn't it be great to have some kind of advisor who knows about these things???????
Going to bed now, have college in the morning. Not sure if I'm happy about that at the moment, especially as my boyfriend usually takes me in my car because we can't park in the grounds (they only have 2 disabled parking bays) but he can't make it tomorrow. He said he would pay for a cab for me but I don't like them (long story) so I'm going by bus. It will only take me an extra hour to get there but what the heck. I only live ten mins away by car but the buses are so crap and I have to get 2 with a walk in between. I got severe cramp in my calf muscle last night and my muscle has been hurting all day so I've been limping around. Hopefully that will be better by tomorrow.

I've been to see a homeopath on serval accasions but that was before I discovered I had SAD I used to tell them my symtoms but didnt have any idea they conected to the weather, I'm not sure if the remedys have helped me but I might have been alot worse if I'd hadn't seen a homeopath. My GP is also a homeopath and when he diagnosed me with SAD he gave me remedy the only problem was I was smoking at the time and drinking lots of coffee which I no they effects the effects but placebos hardly work for me as I'am very intune with how I feel and I can swear that some possitive effect came upon me after talking the remedy. I'am still very sceptical about homepathy but the biggest joke of them all has to be the bach flower remedys I used to but loads of them I've tried everyone and I have to say they are mererly just a placebo they guy who invented them died of heart disease even though he claimed he could cure it, he was a crack pot if you ask me. But homepathy must have some effectiveness and probably will be unexplained by science for ever more.

Pete: Homeopathy is not a placebo effect... if that's true, then how come I've seen my mum cure animals? My cat was losing her hair, and she had one remedy (Nat Mur 30, which is what I had the other day!) and her hair grew back within 2 weeks.
She also treated horses at the stables I rode at. Storm, a horse in his late 20s, which is old for a horse, he was going to be put to sleep because he had arthiritus, and she gave him a course of Rhus Tox, and he lived for years.

I totally trust homeopaths. I know they can't cure things such as cancer or AIDs, or terminally ill people, but they do help make things a lot easier.

Homeopathy is very hard to understand, because scientists can't prove how they work, they dismiss it as a load of old rubbish.

Anyway... haha, sorry just a bit of a rant there. I really think there is a remedy out there for each of us that will help us get through winters. I mean, I've woken up this morning after having that remedy, and god... I feel HAPPY! I don't feel nervous or scared, or panicy. I feel good. I'm looking forward to the day!

Arken: I know it's a pain in the arse having to avoid coffee, mint, tea tree... but if homeopathy works for you, then surely not using those things are worth it, rather than the side effects of anti depressance?

Also, about the ACONITE. It may work, but you need to see a proper homeopath and let them ask you the questions and see if it's a proper match for you!

If you live with a homeopath, you'll find out the main use for aconite is shock. After an accident, or finding out bad news, I'd always be given a dose of aconite, and it does calm you down...

Anyway.. I hope this helps you all!

Arken: Sorry I missed the bit about whether it's true not to use coffee and such. I'm afraid it is essential, the chemicals in it, and such strong flavours such as mint and smells such as camphor will stop the remedy working.

I believe you need to stay off it for the entire time you're on the remedies, but I'm going to see my friend today who's a homeopath, I will check the details for you :)

I never said homepathy is a placebo, but I did say bach flower remedies are! I also said I'am sceptical about homepathy and that I felt that I benfited from a remedy. Hippocrates was the first to notice the effects of giving small amounts of something that causes a like to the persons problem to strenthen there immue system and as my parents are Greek I'am proud of the father of medicine and stand by his word and I doublt he was bullshiting, he also prescibed sunlight to many of patients that were suffering from depression and health problems. The guy was a genius! Unfortunantly now days we need solid proof of something to work and that sometimes can be impossible... follow your hearts.

Cheers joeybear, that would be great. The only thing that really got me down was the toothpaste but I would have to spend more time looking arould for one that wasn't Aniseed. It was a bit of a rush job last time as she wanted me to go on them straight away. They used to sell fruity flavoured toothpaste for kids years ago but I haven't seen it lately. The Aniseed flavour was making me chuck up and then I'd want to clean my teeth again, viscious circle really. So, I'll keep a look out for something different and then give it another go (as long as I can afford it).

And as for you Siddy, you are the greatest. I think you should send me a daily quip list because you always cheer me up
