Anybody else here starting to feel it?

I am starting to...the whole grandiose thinking...I feel very...erm...philosophical, if that's the right word, and I now am trying to do whatever I can to avoid sad or lonely situations...which is about a 180 degree turn. The deep euphoria hasn't come yet...but I'll be waiting. It isn't even May yet! I know some people are bothered by hypomania, but I personally love the feeling it gives me.

Hello,

hypomania can be embarrasing for me if If I don't 'ground myself'. I am also reminded at 5.11 this morning that it is light outside and I had a job getting back to sleep  .

I did enjoy spending all day in the garden yesterday doing all the jobs I wanted to without any feeling that I was pushing myself so it has it's benefits :D

Hi There

Well I've been to college, hoovered and shampooed two cars inside upholstery, shampooed the carpet and stairs, been food shopping, housework, been to a meeting, seen friends etc etc all in 24 hours!

Wow, I've just got tons of energy and it is brilliant. Love it. I wish I felt like this all the time, I'd get so much done. I'm still on SJW though, need to get off it really, that will calm me down!

I think I'm acting normal but it is hard for me to tell, my husband usually tells me when I'm acting manic. I don't feel euphoric just happy.

Louise

Flip - I only wish I was.

Am I the only one still feeling down desperately waiting for spring to appear? I'm exhausted at the moment, I thought it was really draging out this year.

I weeded the entire yard today.

Would've been quite an acomplishment a few months ago, but not a thing anymore.

Sorry you're still not feeling too good Samleona

Today is very sunny and getting quite warm, I hope this lifts your spirits a bit.

I'm feeling a little tired myself now probably through overdoing it along with sleepness nights due to my son being ill since the weekend. Still feel cheerful which is good, very good.

Really hope everyone starts to pick up now the weather is really into Spring.

Take care

I don't know where you live, Louise, but here in Leicester we haven't had more than a brief glimpse of sun for a week and a half, and the forecast is for more cloud and rain. The intensity of the sun at this time of year would help me a lot if we could just get it, but instead I'm gradually getting worse with every grey day. I accidentally forgot to put my visor on, on time, two days ago, and spent yesterday having crying fits and feeling suicidal. I'm on 4 hours of light therapy a day at the moment and may have to increase. Wish there was some way I could fly off to someplace sunny for a while but I don't think it's possible under current circumstances.
I've made some positive changes in my diet and am taking some more supplements that have been recommended. Hopefully that will help but it will take time.
The climate here can quite literally be murderous. I'm starting to get memories of something similar this time last year. I'd cry every grey morning, it just seemed like there was no sun up there anymore.
So those of you who are still feeling bad, you're not alone :) We can still come here and share with each other.
Linda.

Oh Linda I am so sorry to hear that you are still feeling so bad and that the weather in Leicester is not so good. I'm in Beds/Cambs border area which does seem to be quite sunny, like now. In the winter we do have to suffer with a lot of murk and fog though.

It might be worth considering just travelling within the UK for a weekend away as flying abroad is not currently possible for you. Although, I've looked at the weather and it is not good for anywhere this weekend!

I really hope the weather gets better for Leicester and the forecasts are wrong, they usually are!

Hoping you feel better very very soon

Just found this on the internet, could be useful. http://uk.weather.com/maps/intlsad.html

It tells you how bad your SAD will be! The weather tomorrow will have no SAD affect so should be a good day according to this forecast. It will be interesting to monitor this site to see if it is accurate. I must admit I find it hard to believe that the whole of the UK is going to be okay for all SAD sufferers in the next 24 hours.

All the best
Louise

Not sure about the SAD weather forecast thing. I found it via Outside In's links last year, and I do look at it occasionally, but it never changes in either summer or winter. Either my computer is missing something or it is just pants. If anyone has seen the UK in any colour, other than a khaki one that isn't even on the key for the forecast, then please let me know.

I used to look at the sad weather forcast everyday, it seemed to be a load of rubbish, whenever I felt low, it said the weather was brilliant :? paul

Oh well a load of rubbish then. I did have my doubts as the whole of the UK was the same colour, I can't believe the weather is that universal! It would be very depressing to look at a SAD forecast and expect to be feeling great when you are in fact feeling awful.

Looking on Outside In's Links, the light meter page is good as I am fairly near to Cambridge, but it would be lovely if someone could find a way of producing a weather forecast in lux's. I suppose this would be too difficult.

I like the Web Light Meter, Louise, though usually it just shows what I already know. After comparing it to the weather outside for a little while, I got good at judging the lux outside. Not that it makes a whole lot of difference, can't do anything about it :)
Thanks for the sympathy by the way. I discovered tonight that my light visor hasn't been working properly when I switch it to an external power source, which I need to do because its internal battery doesn't give me light for long enough.
I've had one visor since January 2005 and the other for a little less than a year, and it has to be said you'd expect a lot better for £270 each. One has tape in it to hold the headband in; in one the eyepiece giving the light has a tendency to lower itself out of place; in one the wire linking the visor to the battery is losing its connection; both are having trouble with the external power supply. Outside in have been really good with their support; they don't make the actual visors. I think I'll be ringing them for some help Tuesday (why do these things happen on weekends and bank holidays).
I'm sad to have to use the things for 4 hours a day but I'm pleased I found what the problem was. Also we had some sun the past 2 days and my face is actually pink from it.
So much for the weather, as you say. They've got it completely wrong lately. We'd be better off just looking out the window I think :)
Take care,
Linda.

Thanks, it's good to know its not just me! - and also that some of us are feeling better in some places. I must admit I usually have some relief by this time of the year but I'm still waiting. Hopefully won't be long now.

When the cloud has broken and the sunshine appears I'm trying to make sure I get out of the house. And as for the weather forecast I gave up looking at it ages ago, as if it doesn't say 'Scorchio!' I just feel more fed up! :)

I must admit that I am starting to feel a lot better, although im sure my wife thinks im bonkers because, everytime the sun shines I dash out into the garden, then as soon as the sun vanishes I come charging back in again :) paul

I do that too Paul :) I promised myself I wouldn't -- that I'd maintain my sanity and dignity, unlike last spring -- but when the sun is in such short supply, a sunny spell is like an elixir isn't it.

I know what you mean.

I felt like I was going crazy today in my house, it was dark, rainy, and downright horrible outside today, and I just couldn't turn on enough lights in my house to make myself happy. I eventually just turned on the lightbox and left it on in the living room to brighten things up.

Hi all,
If your crazy so am I, I'l always walk on the sunny side of the street, even if it means going out of my way.
This last year has been difficult, I moved in march 2005. The previous house i lived in had floor to ceiling windows at the front and back of a 24 ft, lounge. the sun came up at the front of the house and went down at the back, my bedroom was at the front of the house so that was a great help. We had bungalows at the front and back of the house so we wern't over shadowed by anything difficult circumstances forced us to move. We now live in a terraced property ,wish is nice in itself, but obviously crowded. When the sun is about we still get it at the front (my bedroom is at the front). We do get some sun in the garden but none in the kitchen. My kitchen and dining room are dark, We have decorated them in lite colours but I don't go in them often so they are the rooms that always have unfinished jobs in them. This last winter has been pretty bad for me. but Im still alive (not kicking to strong though lol)
Keep walking on the sunny side
Take care
