I dunno why, but I haven't been on here for about a week and now I have to read everything to catch up. (I know I dont' HAVE to read it all but I am such an anal type that I feel compelled to...)

It was my birthday last Satruday and I cried while doing the ironing and then my 11 year old cried too. I couldn't tell her why I was crying as I wasn't sure myself. I think it was because my hubby seems to be working nights forever and I feel like a prsioner in my own home once the night comes. I have been invited out and I can never go as I have to look after the kids while he works. I should stop moaning I know - at least I want to go out which is something!!

Sorry for being full of self pity xxx

Hi Dawn

I think that you need to try and find some extra special me time. Is there any chance that someone could look after the kids for you while you go shopping, out with friends or just to have a relaxing bath. It might relax you and do the SAD some good.

I know it wasn't happy at the time, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hows about you 'delay' your celebration and when your hubby stops working nites you get someone to look after the kids and go out somewhere together, go for a meal, relax, and then at least if you have anymore sporadic moments of crying your eyes out for no reason (we all do it! lol) then you will have something good to remember which might help!

And if all else fails.....its nearly christmas, and with youngish children, it must mean it will be all the more special!!!!

Hugs and kisses...

Hi Dawn
Know how you feel the ironing, always does that to me to.

Do you or anyone else find that SAD gets worse when you are very busy and under stress.

The nights are also long for me, I find that if you put all the lights on it seems better. The days are better than the nights.

I'm still not sure about the light box or if I actually have SAD but a lot of the things people say are true.

I have 3 young children and I try to keep my feelings away from them but sometimes they know and I feel guilty.

Hope you are now feeling well

Love Sue

Hello Sue + Dawn,
a lot of people talk to me describing what the doctors call sub-syndromal S.A.D which basically accepts that some people feel worse in the winter and have S.A.D symptoms, even if you are not sure you have full blown S.A.D you still might be struggling! I am manic in spring and some of the summer, I can do ten jobs and not worry about it I see it as a challenge. Now i am struggling to complete each task and I often start a few jobs and then look at the debri from my attempts. If you can keep a diary in a book or on computer it is useful even if you only do it once in a while because you might see next year similar problems recurring and this can help you look for strategies to cope. If you can afford it pay someone to do ironing, get Tesco on-line to deliver your groceries, if your children are old enough pay them extra pocket money to do odd jobs they can manage. DON'T fall into the trap of thinking that you should cope and recognise some (READ MOST) jobs are really non-essential but we can have higher standards than are needed. Take it easy....................

Hello all, thanks so much for your cheering me up tactics - they always work! And so nice to hear from some I 've not 'spoken' with before.

As it turned out, I wiped away the tears, folded the ironing and took my kids to the pics. i even put makeup on and sparkles in my hair!!

Getting out and about made all the difference! I do get out every day to go to work and usually have an hour to myself before the kids get in. I am actually getting used to hubby being away every night and I love the fact that I get to see what I want on TV and can hog the PC etc. I even sleep better without him. (Just read this back and it looks as though I am glad he is not here, which is not true, but I have always been a wuss about being on my own and I feel incredibly brave to be managing without him!)

To be honest I'm not sure that I would really fancy socialising in this cold weather as I get really achey at this time of year, but it pees me off that I can't even if I wanted to, which I don't (if you see what I mean!!)

I am looking forward to Xmas and I think as it gets nearer I get more excited about my kids getting their pressies and it takes my mind off the SAD which is great.

Hope all you guys are doing ok and that you all have a fabby time too.

XXXX :D :D :D :D

I know what you mean Dawn, I hate going out and socialising in the winter, even going anywhere on my days off.

At home I feel safe and secure. I like that.

In the summer, I am very active and hyperactive. I love going out. My energy levels are massive and I am always joking. Some may say I talk too much (ha)

Roll on summer. Roll on to feeling myself once again (human!) :?

I cannot wait!!!

The longest day in six days time.

Its getting lighter by the day then.

Enjoy Christmas knowing that the days are getting longer.
