Hey guys...... I have a question for a change, my light box does 10'000 lux at 28' inches and that is the recommeded distance I sit. But sitting closer would that increase the effectiveness or decrease the effectiveness do they just recomend a distance because there aware what is ok for your eyes at that distance so they can't have any court cases/law suits agaisn't them?? I'm sure I read somewhere on the net 15'000 lux is more effective then 10'000
I've not heard of 15,000 lux, but will search the net in a mo'. Maybe just 'go with the flow' and use your current 10,000 lux as prescribed in the good old instructions, after all they have been fine tuning this since 1984, and so many people actually do benefit that my guess is that they have cracked it. Sometimes, as they say, less is more. I find the main thing is consistency of use, and at the risk of becoming boring, on the subject of light alone (there being a number of SAD aids), the things that work for me, and might help others, are :
* Get up @ the same time every day * Lightbox @ the same time every day * Lightbox @ the same distance every day * Lightbox for the same length of time every day * Be consistent about the light, don't wander off to get a coffee etc. stay there for the duration. **Plus, no daytime napping whatsoever.
But, I appreciate anyone's desperation to find a better/quicker/more powerful antedote to this SAD curse, it's an annual trap from which we are all perpetually planning our Great Escape.... :|
Sunny thoughts on this new granite grey day. Julie
