Hi everyone, just thought we could swap some funnies, what do you say:

We were talking on the Memory thread about things we do or forget to do or things we check twice, or things we lose etc.

I thought it would give us a free chuckle to make a list:

This morning (and most mornings) I locked the front door, strapped all the kids into the car put the keys in the car, shut all the car doors, got in the car shut my car door turned on the car and turned on the radio, got back out of the car checked that I had locked the front door. As always it was locked, except for the times when I check and its not locked.

Kind of annoyng, my kids look at me like I've gone out.

Yep, identify with all of that ...

At least three or four times a day I go off to somewhere else in the house 'on a mission' ... well, I arrive at the appropriate place having completely forgotten the proposed task, so, I have to return to the spot in the house of said 'proposed task's conception'... it does return to mind, and off I go again, but this time muttering to myself "empty the tumble dryer" or whatever ............ it is so annoying, but then there is exercise involved :)

I'll call somebody and by the time they pick up the phone, forget who I'm calling. So I have to ask the person who they are. And when I find out who they are, I have no idea why I called them in the first place.

Oh Julie, I'm exactly the same way! It happens in work all the time. I'll find myself in the cash office, or the stock room, muttering "I know I was going to do something, but... why am I here?" to myself. It provides much entertainment for all the girls I work with!

Haha!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one that forgets what they're doing!! I've now taken to saying over and over in my head what I'm about to do eg "empty washing machine, empty washing machine, empty washing machine" and I keep saying it (mostly in my head!) till Ive done it! Gets confusing if someone trys to talk to me on my way tho!! Work's the worst tho - I have to write endless lists to help me remember what it is i need to do that day!

I'm another person who's become list dedicated. I have to write down what I'm doing the next day before I go to bed or I forget.

Work is affected much, thankfully, I work in retail and can get away with being a bit forgetful  People just assume I'm a dumb shop assisstant.

But it makes college a nightmare, half the time I'm walking towards the wrong building for the wrong lecture

This is so me!

I write lists but then lose them - the shopping list is my favourite, I write it, put it safely in my bag or my pocket and then when I get to the supermarket it's not there! When I get home I of course find it where I put it in the first place

I spend quite a lot of time at work walking to my secretary's desk and looking vacant as I have no idea why I was going there! She's getting quite used to it!

Ahh, these are so funny. I can totally relate.
I walk down to the other side of the floor at work and can't remember why I was there until I get back to my desk and then sometimes I just don't want to go back, I will just call the person.
At home, I do that....I think laundry is a prime example!!
lately laundry is left in the tumble for hours even days!
I just got back from lunch and forgot my wallet and had to get my friend to pay. I had left it on my desk
I am so absent-minded lately! It does affect my work because I start too many tasks and can't seem to finish them!
Imagine how many thousands of absent minders SADders there are out there! How funny would it be to get all of us together? We would consistenly be finding each others things and reminding each other of our tasks to do! Although if they got us together we would all opt for a place to the equator and then be fine. hmmm, warm island....sounds good....
I feel like I need to have alarms on my crucials items (phone, wallet, etc)

Damn, you check locks too?! :D

Well I thought it was only me 8)

So this morning I walked out of the house, ran back to check I'd locked the back door (even though I hadn't opened it), locked the front door, checked I'd locked the front door.
Opened the car door, thought about checking the front door.
Drove to work. Locked the car, checked the car door. Checked the passanger side. Checked the boot. Walked off. Thought about going back to check it just incase ...

It gets worse as I get further into winter.

I have the same stupid thing about bins and germs. Can't touch them. Have to use a stick, bag, foot... etc

I think I get a bit OCDish.

I shalln't tell the CPN though, otherwise he'll really think I'm mad

Hello Minnie, nice to meet another lock checker. I sometimes have to move the wheelie bin back onto the drive, after the bin men have been. I usually do this once I have the kids all safely strapped in the car, and after I have locked the front door (or have I?). And then I find I would really rather go back in and wash my hands now because I have touched the bin, spooky that is, we have quite similar ways. Yes it is quite OCD ish isn't, heck not another disorder!!!

Catch up later. Sonnyjim

my daughter goes 'you we're listening to that at all where u mum?' and i go 'no, no i wasnt! can you say it all again please!?' and we laugh and laugh... well i laugh and laugh..
i hate it tho when people use it against me and say 'but i told you this the other day...' and i know they havent, they just wanna get away with stuff... well i think they havent. :? . or am i just mental!?!

On many occasions I am just about to walk out the office but have to go back to my room to check that I have switched the computer off and the printer and shut the windows etc - so I am not going mad after all!

When me and my girlfriend are teasing each other sometimes she playfully threatens me with abstinence, me wanting to go one further, I reply 'Ok I'll cut the plug off my lightbox then!' She finds it funny anyway!
