Topic: Light Boxes
posted by Miranda on 2001-12-28 10:54:33

I have been using my light-box for a week now. I use it in the mornings for approx 45 minutes (it's 1000 lux one of the strongest ones).

I'm not notice much improvement yet but I have been getting headaches and nausea every day since I started using the light box. Has anyone else experienced these side effects? I'm not sure if I should continue.

Thank you.

Hi Miranda,

I was just wondering that when you use your lightbox,do you look into it all the time,or do you look up at it every now and again, but have it in view of your eyes like when you are reading or watching thr television?

The second option is the better one for me,because I also get headaches from too much lightbox at once. This has also been advised to do from the S.A.D association.

I try to use it about one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon.

Sometimes I find the light too sensitive to use when I have just got up (my eyes can't handle it at 6 o'clock!)so I have taken it in to work before, but this depends on the job you do.

Hope this has answered your question,
all the best from Donna.

Hi Miranda

I also get sore eyes with the light box. I try not to look right at, it just having it on in the bedroom in the morning while i get ready and glancing up at it helps.
Ask your doctor about it.
I havn't had my box long, but i do feel better, although i don't know if feeling better is all in my mind! anyway i DO feel better so thats all that counts.
