Hello, I'm steeling myself for a bit of a rotten winter given that we've had a rotten summer up here. I've told some people at work about my SAD, which was a big step.

Now I want to try an make life a bit easier by using light therapy at work. I bought the brightspark box but thought it might be a bit instrusive as I'm in an open office with over20 people.

Has anyone tried the Lumie Desk Lamp. I was wondering in particular how long people use if for, I typically need by the depths of winter 2-3 hours infront of my box at home to stay sane. Also does it give out a bright light when you are using as a SAD lamp.

Cheers

Hi Diane , I've not tried the lumie desk lamp , but I do use the bright spark at work. I too work in an open plan office with a similar sort of number of people ,however I never sit at the same desk. Apart from , that is , is the winter where I sit at the desk by the window so nobody is behind me (and I get to hog the daylight!) that way its only me that the lightbox faces and I sit there glowing quite contentedly for my 90 mins.
Sometimes others that are felling a bit down come and have a go for a short while - they call it "Sal's Happy Box!"
Have a word with your boss and see what they can come up with , don't forget the symptoms of sad are classed as disabling so under legislation they have to make adequate facilities available for you to be able to do your job.
My place would rather this small inconvinence than me being off sick for months on end!
Let me know how you get on
Luv Sal
