http://www.raceforlife.org/ the Race for Life are a series of 5k races for women and raise money for cancer research. (there are mens races and anyone races too)
You can run / jog / walk / stroll, whatever you feel comfortable doing, they're really great social events and if you enter with a gang of friends then you can make a real occassion of it.
One of the reasons I've mentioned it is because I know some of you live near Bury St Edmunds (I noticed the sign for Biggleswade because of the forum). I'm planning on entering the one in Nowton Park, Sunday 27th June (11 weeks and 6 days away) with my best mate. It would be nice to know some of you were there even if I haven't a clue what you look like!
Good idea. I might be interested. It's a bit close to home at present as I've been visiting my MIL in hospital at the weekends over the last couple of weeks - she had a colon cancer op and she is in a very bad way.
Are the 'anyone' races part of Race for Life? Couldn't see them on the website and I think my husband would want to take part too.
Lorraine, I think if you go to the main Cancer Research site and look at the how you can help bit there are other races and for Siddy I think they have a cycle challenge... think I might go and have a look.
go to the race for life site, at the top there is a link to the main cancer research site then click on 'get involved' and it lists the other fundraising stuff they do.
