Hi there,
My aim is to relocate - eventually, to somewhere in, or nearer, the magic 30 degrees (in which SAD is not meant to occur).

I was considering a move to Southern Spain (as it won't require waiting for Visas) which is about 36 degrees latitude, rather better than the 52 degrees latitude I live at now.

Obviously the best way is to give it a try, but wondered if anyone had any experience of living in sunnier climbs and the effect it had?
Cheers
Sam

Hi Sam
I've no experience of living permently in a sunnier clime, but I go on holiday annually to either Cyprus, Canary Islands or the Sinai Penninsular ( Sharme el Sheikh/ Taba) every winter solstice. I choose these locations because the sun is almost guaranteed. For me, the therapeutic effect of this mere week suggests that you can't go wrong. Cyprus is 35 degrees approx, the others 28 .

YEP...I have been working in spain, egypt and mexico for the last 2 years and it is most definitely a cure!

back in sunny uk now and stuggling slighty adjusting but not as bad as in years gone by...

If only this crappy country had some decent weather! we'd all be sorted...

I had a fortnight in Tobago last CHristmas visiting family, I was instantly feeling better when I got there. I looked forward to the holiday, which kept me going for the early part of the winter. A few weeks after the holiday I had a really bad spell, but not as bad as this year, when I have been off work, as I was 2 years ago. Based on this, hoping to visit friends in Australia if we can afford it next Christmas!

Hi there,

I recently moved out to Australia and it's definitely the answer. I actually don't believe I ever felt 100% ok whilst in the UK and it's only now that I'm realising it!

If you have the opportunity to move, go for it - it's really worth it.

Good luck!

No opportunity to move, but when retirement eventually comes, will definitely be spending time further south in the winter!

Thank you all for you replies. Sorry for not posting before but I have been so down I havent even been online.
I think it will definately be the answer. It is encouraging to know that it works!Thank you!
I think I might move to Spain first and eventually apply for a visa to Oz.
I must admit I feel like relocation isn't much of a choice rather than a neccessity, I just can't carry on in England, my life just grinds to a halt every winter.
I'm about to spend 3 weeks in March on the Costa del Sol. Lets hope it helps!
