Hi,

Firstly may I say that this thread is by no way meant to insult, hurt or mock anyone’s feelings or past experiences with SAD, I see in other posts some people are quite sensitive about this subject.

I am currently working on a thesis and need your help if you have been diagnosed with SAD.

It goes like this……

If you hear the weather as a manifestation in audible form, let’s say a major scale for a bright sunny day, then do you think it would help at all? If sound/music therapy was used with a light box at the same time, do you think it would increase the recovery rate?

I`m working on the subconscious element to help with SAD and am currently investigating sound/music as a possible solution or partial remedy.

My father is diagnosed with SAD, so it does fall closely to my heart.

Any feed back would be greatly received.

Many thanks.

i think you are insinuating that s.a.d is a phsycological problem, when the condition is actually neurological.

what next, air fresheners that smell of summer fields as well.

I am not insinuating that. I agree that it is neurological which is why music or sound is being used. God forbid that people would be using air fresheners.

sorry if my reply seemed arguementive, but i dont think music/sound is essential or important to s.a.d sufferers specifically. i am sure music and certain sounds can make both sufferers and non sufferers relax and feel happy. :D

I think that music in itself changes your mood. If I listen certain music it makes me feel better, if I listen to a different type of music it may make me feel abit down. I think this is generally how al ot of people react to music. The only way I think it would help people with SAD is that a certain type of music may lift their mood. That still leaves all the other unbearable symptoms of SAD, extreme fatigue, muscle pain, joint pain, inablility to wake up in the morning, inability to socialise, food cravings, etc etc. SAD is a very physically disabling condition as well.
