Just completed my second week with Lumie Clear and am still hopeful that this may be the one that works. It seems crazy that I hav been at war with spots for 15 years or more with no permanent relief! The worst thing about acne ias how it looks but it's also very uncomfortable. I'm pleased to report that after two weeks my face is less red and angry... I do have one new large spot on my cheek but it has stayed under the skin and is more of a lump than a real spot. Also at this time of the month I would expect skin to be much worse. I'm still finding the lumie very easy to use but do wish it was cordless ( I sent my husband out for an extension lead so I can now use more easily while watching tv!) we have had a few giggles over the yellow glasses that protect your eyes but on the whole so far so good...

End of week three and I'm persevering. No major issues, no major improvements. Am still finding the Lumie easy to use and can easily fit into my daily routine, except... I'm off to Glastonbury festival on Wednesday and can't take it with me so am going to miss 5 days of treatment this week. Really hope I won't go backwards because of it

Am expecting to see improvement around week 4 but because of glastonbury am resetting my expectation to week 5.

Having said no major improvements I did 'feel' better this week, maybe psychological!

End of week 4 and I've missed 5 days of treatment while I was at Glastonbury festival BUT am pleased to report that in the photographs I have noticed my skin is looking much better than I thought and I am less critical of myself in them than usual (oh and they are all taken in direct sunlight as it was scorchio!)

This is very good new as I still have 8 weeks of the recommended 12 week treatment to go! Restarting the Lumie regime tonight...

End of week 5 and i am Back in the treatment swing of things after my trip. Nothing new to report, still think skin is better than before I started. Am hoping this will be a successful treatment for PCOS acne, we deserve a break don't we?!
I'm still using my regular skincare products and there doesn't appear to be any conflicts, also no side affects
Would like to be able to treat my whole face in one go at max setting in shortest treatment time but to achieve max setting light has to held directly on the skin so this is not possible. I am being picky though as the time it takes seems to be a good investment. I had a new spot flare up this week but it stayed under the skin and was not red and angry, was more of a lump than a spot.
All in all I'm very happy with results so far and am only just over a third way into recommended treatment time.

End of week 6 - treatment half way point. Very pleased with results so far, I don't have the much longed for perfect skin but I have braved the odd day in public without makeup which was a previous no no! I am getting new spots but they are not as angry as before and red skin/scars from prior outbreaks are definitely less noticeable. My skin is still oily and gets shiny during the day. New spots tend to stay beneath the surface or come out as very small whiteheads that disappear when I wash my face morning and night. My pores are still large but I'm not really expecting anything to be able to fix this! Lumie treatment is happily co-existing with my normal skin care routine and even the use of high factor sunscreen has not degraded by skin as much as usual. Here's hoping for an even better response during the next 6 weeks :-)

End of week 7, I am continuing to feel more confident although I don't think there has been much change to appearance of my skin this week. I have been outdoors a fair bit and using sun cream which never really agrees with my skin! Things have stayed stable though. I have a wedding reception to go to in a couple of weeks and am going to step up my treatment to try and get in top shape for this. I am going to increase treat whole face in one go (rather than concentrate on badly affected areas, and go for 45 minutes per day.

End of week 8 and 9 - I have to admit I have not been perfect with sticking to planned daily treatment :-( life has got a bit hectic and my skincare routine has suffered. Having said that, I have had no major outbreaks and have not been wearing foundation every day, opting instead for a bit of bronzer and some mascara. This is fine and is testament to how there has been an overall improvement in my skin condition. I caught a glimpse of myself In the mirror a few days ago with light behind me which was very unflattering and highlighted that I am still a long way from where I would like to be with the look of my skin, but then If I'm honest with myself I know I will never get to where I would like to be on this one (ie flawless!) 3 weeks to go before I need to take proper stock and compare against when I started... Note to self, must try harder this week to be strict about treatment...

End of week 10 - paid the price this week for being slack with treatment last week, have had a break out Good news is that it was relatively small compared with life before lumie. Am also wondering if this is related to the fact that I have started swimming once a week in the last fortnight as chlorine has always been an enemy... Must try not to get over confident and miss treatments especially with only 2 weeks left of the recommended 12 week treatment... Main issue has been that I got into the habit of doing the treatments while reading in bed and I keep falling asleep because work is very demanding at the moment. This is not the fault of the lumie which is very easy to use, would still prefer a cordless one though!!

End of week eleven- it's been time of the month and pleased to say that for the second time I did nt get the normal horrible cystic eruptions. I did feel a largish lump but it stayed under the skin and because it wasn't red it didn't look so awful. I've also been stressed and was pleased that this didn't shoe through my skin as much as normal. I'm one week away from the recommended 12 week treatment and am pleased I started this journey.

End of week 12 and I am very happy with results.
1) cystic breakouts significantly reduced
2) general breakouts significantly reduced
3) skin significantly less red
4) I have the confidence not to wear foundation every day
5) it is the cheapest 12 week solution I have tried and there are no ongoing costs as the device is purchased up front for about £100
By no means do I have perfect skin and I am still very envious of those who do! However I am very happy with results.
Hopefully my experience will help others :-)

I wish I'd have signed up and had a free trial! Im still sceptical (isn't everyone) as i've tried so many different products to get rid of my acne!
Is it worth the money??

Emily-May, I felt the same way when I bought my Lumie Clear about a month ago - it is, after all, a lot of money!

The good news is that after using the Lumie Clear every night for 15 mins on each side of my face, my skin is finally under control - no new spots, all old ones have healed, and the red marks I usually get afterwards haven't been an issue. I've even been able to give my skin a break from all the chemicals I was putting on it as I don't even need to use face wash any more - just warm water, wiped off with a cotton pad. That's something my skin definitely wouldn't have tolerated before!

It seems that Lumie Clear works for the vast majority of people using it, but you do need to be realistic about the results. I had mild acne (i.e. 1 "current" spot all the time)and I'm sure I'll still get the occasional one if I stay up all night eating chocolate ice cream and writing essays. If you've got severe acne, it's probably not for you, but if it's moderate or just low-level but very persistent then I'd say it's definitely worth a shot. Lumie does offer a 30 day trial period when you buy it and they'll give you £130 of your money back if you don't like it, so it wouldn't cost much to find out whether it works for you as well!

Hi daisy
Thanks for that. My acne is mild but annoyingly persistent.
I think I'll go ahead and purchase one and see for myself! I'm 23 and still getting spots. If I'm like my mother I'll continue to get them for a while longer so anything that helps them is better than nothing!

Hi Emily, you're welcome. I hope it works for you as well as it has for me. My skin problem sounds similar to yours. I'm 20 and in the past 10 years I've tried 4 kinds of antibiotics, the pill and every lotion/facewash/moisturiser the doctor has recommended to me. None of them cleared my skin completely, but Lumie Clear has!

I do strongly recommend that you clean it very thoroughly with a baby wipe before every use, even though the manual doesn't explicitly tell you to - you can see tiny skin flakes and oil residue on the glass window if you look at it in the light, and that just seems like all of that bacteria would be undoing all of the Lumie Clear's good work!

Best of luck anyhoo, hope you like it as much as I do!

Hi

For cleaning instructions please this can be found on page 7 of the Instruction leaflet.

Details as below:

Cleaning:
If you need to clean Lumie Clear, use an alcohol wipe or just water and a clean, damp cloth.

Hope this helps

Hello:)
I have just started using Lumie clear today.I have tried all the "spot-fighting" facewashes-you name them- but none have worked, as well as creams from the doctor. I'm really really hoping lumie clear will work for me!As well as being annoying, acne really has an effect on your life-it makes you feel all self conscious and wanting to pile as much makeup on your face as is humanly possible! I'll post every week to report on my progress...
