Hi Nikki,

I'm 32 and believe it is SAD that I have suffered from for a number of years.

It has gone from very mild to quite serious and has worsened since having my children. My doctor keeps saying she believes I have post-natal depression caused by the birth of my second child Oct 00 but I felt much happier during the summer.

She wants me to try SSRI's of which I tried Lustral and after just 2 days it made me feel completely spaced out and hopeless. I stopped it and would like to try phototherapy instead. I really do not feel as bad or low as the anti-depressants made me feel and don't really want to go down the drugs route.

I would love to be your email pal and find out more about this illness with you and offer you support too.

Lisa

Hi there Nikki,

My name is Donna & I've had S.A.D for as long as I can remember.I diagnosed it myself approx 4 years ago & then got my light box which was a life saver (to my boyfriend's relief!)

For the last 2 winters my S.A.D seems to have improved,so I haven't used my light box much at all.I still have my bad days like at christmas when I had a panic attack out shopping (which is understandable!)

What can I tell you about me? well I am 30 years young,I don't have any children.I live with my boyfriend & cat (Rambo!)& if you are feeling that you need to chat to me,especially if you are having a bad day, then you are welcome to e-mail me at:

donnagood20@hotmail.com

Take care,
Donna :-)

Hi Nikki,

it's amazing what having children does for you! Everyone knows about the sleepless nights, stretch marks and lack of cash but SAD... Actually I reckon I've had it since late teens, without realising, but it really got BAD after the birth of my daughter in Oct (15 years ago). Since then I've had 3 severe sessions, the first thought to be Post Natal Depression, and quite a few grimmish winters.

I self diagnosed a couple of years back - my husband came across a DIY SAD Test while surfing one day. I did the test & found I had it. Now I test monthly & my scores go up in the winter & down come summer, fairly conclusive.

I've used a lightbox the past 2 winters, getting to know how to use it most effectively, this year I've also had a Light Alarm Clock - which has made waking more pleasant, and have taken Hypericum. Thank goodness it's March now & the end, for this year, is in sight.

But enuff abt me. If you want someone to compare symptoms with or even just to chat (& say, yep, I get like that too) email me on Sharon@pearsed.freeserve.co.uk Sharon
