I have already started using my light box, as last winter I suffered from headaches when I first used the light therapy and had to build up my usuage time and distance slowly. So this year I am starting early with small doses, so that by the time I need the maximum treatment time, I will be used to the light therapy again. I wondered if anyone else has to do this?

Can I please ask what sort of time you are meant to use the lightbox for? I have one and have had it for about 3 years now, only thing is when I put it on I could have it on all day I just love looking at the bright light and it doesn't really seem to make a great deal of difference, other than the fact that I love looking at it, also I have a halogen heater and it too so beautiful and bright when I have all four bars on. The thing is I am not 100% sure about how much light I am meant to be having, can it be bad for you?

It really depends on what strength of light box you have as to the suggested useage time.

Using Light therapy first thing in the morning, generally sets one up for the day. Try not to use too much bright light close to bedtime as for some it could upset your sleep pattern, everyone is different.

Best/quickest results are used postitioning the light box at arms length approx 50cm, you do not need to stare into the light, this wouldn't be comfortable.

Its pure white light, no UV.

Hope this helps

Hi Jill,

In reply to your note above. Is it alright to keep the light on for more than the suggested 2 hours? I work from home and above and beyond the SAD benefits, I like like the light it produces in my study.

Will it do me harm to treat it as a 'lamp'? I could move it so that it is further away after the initial 2 hours...

I appreciate feedback

best wishes

Jess
