My bodyclock needed 2 attempts at a repair in Jan this year, after the first bulb went and burnt out something inside, after about 3 years of use.

The next bulb, only in use since Jan, has now gone - the light was fine this morning, but wouldn't come on tonight. My usage of the light has not altered significantly in the 4 or so years I have had it - although it might actually have reduced a little over the last 14 months.

Has the quality of these bulbs reduced? What is the expected lifetime? (Given that the first one lasted 3+ years, but the 2nd hasn't even lasted 1)

Hi

Please give our careline a call, so we can help you resolve the matter.

Sometimes when a bulb blows (this can be down to many reasons, storms/power surge etc) on occasions it can also blow the Internal Fuse this is more as a protection to the other important electronic components.

Also check the bulb is making good contact, it is a screw bulb, periodically please check that the bulb is tightly screwed, always do this when it is unplugged from the mains.

We have a very good careline team, if anyone has any issues at anytime please don't hesitate to give us a call

Hope this helps

Can you please respond to my questions on this forum:

1. Has the quality of these bulbs reduced?

2. What is the expected lifetime? (Given that the first one lasted 3+ years, but the 2nd hasn't even lasted 1)

I am well aware that the internal fuse can blow - this is more a design fault than anything else, and something which I have been charged for to get fixed in the recent past, and having to send the unit to you 3 times to get faults you introduced fixed.

Please clarify how a screw bulb can become unscrewed on it's own?

I fail to see how these points cannot be answered on this forum - why do you expect me to phone you at my expense, and inconvenience?

As a company we continually look to improve the standards of our bulbs and are not aware of any recent changes in quality.

We are unable to quote a life expectancy on our bulbs, due to there being so many other variables affecting their life. We are really sorry that you have felt the need to complain on this occasion and would be happy to offer you one of our new more energy efficient bulbs by way of compensation.

Hope this helps

Seems a strange thing not to be able to quote/provide detail on, but thank you very much for the gesture of goodwill, and I would be pleased to accept.

I trust you are able to send to the address held on your records, BN14 postcode?

I received a package today, consisting of one undamaged bulb, and one with a circular hole through the glass of the bulb. The broken glass fell out onto my floor on opening. Thanks very much...

Sorry to hear that one of the bulbs arrived damaged, despite solid postal tubes to protect the bulbs being damaged, of course bulbs are always vulnerable in transit.

I have organised to send two more replacements in the post and have requested with the warehouse we double pack them.

These replacements appear to have got 'lost in transit' - a shame, when you make a public promise to try to improve your customer service image.

I found these replacement bulbs in IKEA yesterday. At 28 watts they aren't such a high wattage as the the Lumie bulbs, but they do the job.
And at £3.05 for TWO bulbs they are lots cheaper!

We strongly recommend you only use candle bulbs in all the Bodyclocks.

Bodyclock Classic takes 28W MAX candle bulb.

All other Bodyclock models take 42W MAX candle bulbs.

rhiannonmulrenan, could I suggest you try something a little stronger than light therapy for your personality disorder? Customer services have bent over backwards to help you and you have done nothing but twist and moan.
Get a life.

For the price they charge, to have an entire unit fail due to a faulty bulb, then for them to send it back still broken? I wouldn't call that 'bending over backwards', particularly when the items sent as apologies are also broken in transit...

All *was* over and done with, *Finally* resolved, so not sure why you're butting in 2 months down the line with some PR for them...?

Well I'm glad 'bulbgate' is *finally* resolved. Sorry to rake up the past and make you re-live the pain and torment of your popped lightbulb.
