Hello,

I got my Zip today. The battery life had 3 bars but I still plugged it in for the initial 2 hour charge.

I used the light for half an hour without the charger. Then I plugged the charger in again to re-charge it after use. It's been charging for about 4 hrs and still only shows 1 bar on the battery life screen.

Is my Zip faulty?

Generally if you charge the unit for 2-3 hrs one get approx 2-3 hrs from the battery. The average person finds 30 minutes each day is good, so this means you won't need to charge it every day.

It may be best to call our Careline as there are some checks we can do over the phone with you, we most certainly can sort this if we establish there is a problem.

Look forward to your call

Thanks, I think I will call on Monday as I have another problem with it. The battery ran out, so I tried plugging it in and using it from the mains: I turned it back on, but after less than a minute it dims to off. Quite frustrating!

I get problems charging as well. The bar graph seems to show no charge after 2 30 minute session but the battery still has plenty of charge, enough for another 2 30 minute sessions. If I try and charge it when its only half run down it wont charge, the display doesnt flash anyway. I think you need to run it down before you can charge it again, is that correct?

You don't need to run the battery down to recharge it, although with all rechargeable batteries to prolong the lifetime it is good to completely run out the charge peridically.

Please double check that the charger is put together correctly, (ie that the slide on plug part is fully home.)
If no joy please give our Careline a call when you have the unit by you, so that we can do some checks over the phone.
Hope this helps

I have been through this with your careline before. I used to work as an electrinics engineer so have an inkling as to what may be going on. There is a relay inside the unit , I know this because I can hear it switching. This relay has something to do with wether the unit charges or runs from the external psu. Sometimes it wont play ball. I think its a design fault. The charger is assembled correctly as plugging it into the Lumie always causes either the relay to switch or the unit to start charging.
