Light therapy tips for better sleep

Thinking of buying an Arabica, and is 30 minutes use per morning enough?

I am thinking of buying the Arabica model as it seems to fit the criteria I am looking for. Couple of questions:

Can this be effective if one uses it for 30 minutes every morning just after waking up, or do I need to start with a longer time then reducing this after a period of regular / daily use?

Also, would placing this directly in front of me, at slightly less or about outstretched arm's length, doing other tasks like eating my breakfast but not looking directly into it, which should work as long as the light is directed toward my face, sound about right?

Sorry if these sound like "newby" obvious questions but I am just want to be sure I am doing the right thing.

Best Wishes, Neil

I have just brought an Arabica, last week. I use it for 1/2 to 3/4 hr every day depending on time, just after breakfast whilst reading emails etc. I feel I don't need more than that now, I did do 1 hr at first, I think it depends on how bad you feel before the start of using it and when you start to feel better you can adjust the time a bit. I felt improvement after 1 use. I have placed it on my left hand side slightly in front of me, about an arms length away and the light on 3/4 of my face. I believe you need to stay that close if you want to get the benefit in 1/2 hr, otherwise it would be longer than that. I did get a bit of eye ache so I moved it a little further back and was fine on next usage. I have found that it works, I feel so much better, I sleep better and have my sense of humour back (so my husband says!!!). Good luck and all the best, Sal

Hi all

Quick question. I bought a lumie lamp and it's been a fantastic experience. However, my partner keeps warning me not to look directly at it as it will ruin my retinas. Anyone know whether it's okay to do so? I have been having no problems.

Many thanks, Michael

You do not need to look/stare into the light as this is not comfortable. Make sure you position the light at arms length in front of you, with the head of the light pointing up towards your face(this is when you are getting therapeutic benefit) then the light will be getting to the back of the eye, you can then carry on reading or checking your emails or whatever you choose to do while getting your light therapy. While the head of the lamp is pointing down it is a very good desk light.
Hope this helps
