5-htp

has any one tried 5-htp. It's a food supplement thats supposed to raise serotonin levels. Never heard of it until today. Also rhodiola rosea again very good for improving mood.Just wondered if any one has any info or experience of them.

I have tried Rhodiola and unfortunately it didn't really do much for me. I would love to try St John's Wort but apparently I can't as I am on the Pill, which is a shame.

Last winter, I gave 5HTP a try for a couple of weeks, perhaps I didnt give it long enough, but decided to stop because I kept having painful headaches.

it was like a miraccle pill for me, it did something, it mellowed my moods and i defenitely felt more positive, my sleep was much better. i took 50mg capsule a day, that was enough for me. i stopped recently and switched to omega 3, o3mega+joy, and that works even better for me. i feel it is more beneficial to my body and not only my brain. i know several people that now use 5-htp and are feeling much better. the reason i stopped was that i felt dizzy sometimes and a little nauseous. i did not know if it was from 5-htp but just tried it. now that i am using omega 3 and days are shorter i am negotiating a lightbox. i tried lighttherapy last year and could really feel a difference.

i have been taking celpram for 12 months now due to a huge change in my body (not sure what happened) which are causing me great anxiety around pmt time and sadness. i have been reading up on armoryn a natural substiute which i ordered, have been taking of a morning. i notice it does give me headaches but i dont really care all i want is for this horrible feeling to go away and never come back.i read somewhere your not suppose to take amoryn and celapram together, i take amoryn in the morning and celapram at night. please advise if anyone else takes these and if its working for u ?

I tried htpp for about 3 days and I felt irritable, then got headaches and really bad stomach cramps. It might have just been a bug but I was too scared to take them after that. I've still got the packet so might try again next year.

i've started using 5-HTP & at the moment i'm noticing headaches. is there a correct time of day to take the 50mg tablet????? 2hrs, 1hr 1/2hr before bedtime??? i take mine as i'm going to bed, anywhere between 10.30 & 11.30. I refuse to give in to the tiredness SAD gives me & stay up as long as possible.

I'm new to this forum and wanted to ask a couple of things about SAD.

I suffer from PMS and from end of Jan until end of June every year I get very low, like I am under a big black cloud that I just can't get out of. I have read some of the comments that suggest that for most people SAD starts in September. Does it make any difference that my black cloud seems to start in Jan or could it be that I have never noticed it before and it starts earlier? Could it be that I have both SAD and PMS? Has anyone else found that? It does effect my appetite in that I can't stop eating sometimes but PMS does that to you at times. Its like having alien hand syndrome where I can't stop the food from going in my mouth! One thing that I have found it that I don't really get the tiredness that you all seem to be getting, is the tiredness typical of SAD or do sufferers experience different severities of conditions?

I have been reading about 5 HTP today and the effects it can have on PMS and will be ordering some tonight so fingers crossed it helps! I get headaches daily anyway and found that 5 HTP is supposed to be good for chronic daily headache sufferers like me.

Any information that you could give me would be a great help. Far more than my doctors have ever been!

Has any one else tried o3mega+ joy? I take 2 softgels daily and find it really helps.
