Hey folks,

been contemplating getting a light box for some years now, having experienced depression/anxiety that though not strictly seasonal based is definately exacerbated in the winter months. And so I'm looking at the Pharos range.

It's a hell of a lot of money to lay out but if it means a lessening of all the typical symptoms (lethargy, despondency, low-mood, low-libido, you all know the score) I figure it could be the best £300 I ever spent.

My 'question' really is whether people recommend the Pharos Max - either those who own one personally or those who know of it. Usage-wise I would expect to be using it at home perhaps for a half hour first thing each morning, just next to my monitor/tv while I check my mails/the news etc (I understand you don't need to look directly at the light).

Any thoughts/advice?

Thanks in advance

I have been using a Pharos Max for the last few months and it is worth the money (before that I used a Britespark). It does take up a lot of space, but you really feel the wall of light making a difference.

Thanks for you help guys - I'll get one ordered today. The last week wasn't so bad, but the weekend was really gray and I had absolutely no energy and was really low in spirits. I can't be doing with feeling like this till next Spring (at the earliest!).

Thanks again.

Ordered - in 2-3 working days I should hopefully be on my way to feeling the benefits of light therapy!

I bought a Pharox Max 3 weeks ago. How did you get on with it in the end Jack? I am suffering a few side-effects at the mo. Wondering whether to send it back...? Caz

I ordered pharos max today. AS the 10 000 lux desklamp what i have been using last year doesn’t do any help. Sun beds have been the only help for me. But who wants the skin cancer and early aging.
If pharos max is not as good as sunbed, then i‘m gonna send it back. Good, they promise to take it back from your house, no need to go to post office!

I have used it few weeks, sometimes 2 hours a day. I’m feeling good, but it hasn’t stopped me sleeping. Sometimes I sleep day, night and a day in a row. Sometimes only 12 hours. If only something could stop the excess sleeping. This light is very strong and it’s not easy to sit close to it. Is 50 cm too close? All I want to do is to close my eyes and walk away.

I have used Lumie Pharos max for 1,5 months.
It hasn’t changed anything, I slept days and nights, didn’t study at school.
Then I went to sunbed again, and I was much better the next day. In sunbed I cover my eyes, so the light can’t go in through eyes.
