Hello everyone,

Firstly it's a comfort to see such a vast amount of people describing some of the same feelings I get, for years I thought I was just going crazy but now I'm ready to do something about it.

The thing is, I'm a student, so really need to take into account my budget when considering therapy. So my main question really is if I should first invest in a light box or in one of the dawn/sunset simulator alarm clocks.

So really I wanted to ask what people thought, if anyone had preferences over the boxes or the simulators, or what would be recommended as a first timer.

Thank you

Some companies will hire lights so that you are able to see if it works for you before you commit to purchase. That might be helpful for you.

Hi nosuchthing,
My psychiatrist recommended a light box and from everything that I have read on SAD, it seems that the lightbox is the first thing that someone with SAD should start with and then maybe later, if needed, then you can invest in a dawn simulator.

Anyway, hoppe this helps.

Lightbox first.

The simulator's a brilliant adjunct, and I recommend you get it when you can afford it, but (as I found out when separated from my lightbox for a while) not enough on its own.
