Lumie Bodyclock Elite 300 - MP3 from SD card

I just purchased the Lumie Bodyclock Elite 300 today.

I bought it specifically because there was an option to play your own mp3 files from a SD card.

I have tried several approaches to get this to work, but every time the clock freezes when browsing through the audio sources and reaching the SD card as source.

I have tried to insert the SD card while the clock was powered off. When powering back on it states for a second that the SD card is beeing scanned an nothing more happens. Same happens if you insert the SD card while the clock is powered on.

I have tried to reduce the bitrate on the songs/song to 96kbps. Have tried to use both variable bitrate and constant bitrate. Nothing seems to help.

Current file system on SD card is Fat32

What are the requirements to have the clock to read the SD card? I just bought the SD card today as well, and it works fine while plugged into my SD USB adapter and connected to my computer.

Are there a max duration on song, a specific bitrate needed, max size limit?

I think the documentation is very poor when it comes to how to use a SD card with the clock.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

I have too problems with the sd cardreader. Mp3 plays but there is often an little freeze in a song. On my pc I never have this.

The names of the songs are short.

And if you put only a few files, can you select any mp3 to be one of the four favourites?

I had problems with the SD/mp3 feature at first, too: "Reading SD" - And nothing more.

My solution was to use a 1MB SD Card instead of the 4MB card I had tried it with first.

My guess is that the bodyclock can handle SD cards (8 MB to 2 GB) only, but no SDHC (4 - 32 GB) cards, nor the upcoming SDXC (64 - 2 TB) cards.

File naming doesn't seem a problem here, however non-mp3-files or directories (folders) on the card are "showstoppers".

They really could have layed out these conventioms more clear in the manual. (The German translation is gruesome, by the way. Not only stilisticly, but also "hard" translation errors.)

I have found a solution for playing a whole album on the lumie 300.

The solution I have found is to use a "MP3 Joiner" software. This will join a selection of MP3's into a single MP3.
The Lumie 300 will recognise this larger MP3 (100Mb for a typical album) and play it compltely.

You can find loads of different MP3 joiners by using google to search for "MP3 Joiner"
