Hi, i was looking at buying a zip as I only want to spend 30 mins near a light in the morning. I was wondering how...with the zip having less lux (2500) and a smaller surface area... how you only need to use it 30 mins when the brightspark for eg is 10000 lux and you typically need to spend 90 minutes under it and it is much bigger!

can anyone help un-puzzle me lol? I'd ideally want to use something for 30 min at 6:30 til 7:00 (will be much better than the 12 noon I'm waking to lately)

thanks a lot.

I was wondering exactly the same thing, but maybe the question is too difficult to answer since there have been no replies since it was posed almost 6 months ago. Anyone care to respond on behalf of Lumie?

I'm not a Lumie employee, but I have purchased their products.

Zip uses LEDs which produce a spectrum with a large peak in blue wavelengths which have been indicated to regulate circadian rhythms.

Brightspark produces less of the same blue wavelenghts from fluorescent tubes, although its total output across the whole visible light spectrum is greater than that of the Zip.

The differences in the proposed treatement times are based on the amount of blue light produced by each unit.

The relavence of the blue wavelenghts to SAD is still debatable and muddied by marketing hype.
