I have the Lumie brightspark, which I have just bought from John Lewis.

I sit in front of it in the evening whilst I read or am on the Internet. This can be anything between 30mins and 2hours. I try to not use it after 11pm.

In the morning it is a bit more difficult. I am rushing around then and there is no way I can sit in front of it (because I simply can't wake up any earlier). However of the 60mins it takes me to get ready for work I spend 55mins in my (very large) bedroom. The best I can do is to stand the lightbox on a table and look at it as often as I can whilst doing what I need to do. I'm assuming that this is almost useless wrt SAD - but surely it has to be better than nothing?

What lightbox routines do other folk have?

Hi Lodger, I have a 'daylight' light box which I only need to use for 30 mins. I use it in the morning before work while I'm eating breakfast. Have you tried a dawn simulator? It makes such a difference for me, it's so much easier to wake up and get out of bed. It might help you to get up earlier so you can spend more time in front of your light box?

Hi Bagpuss. I do have a dawn simulator - however because I live in a brightly-lit street I go to sleep with an eye mask on. Otherwise I don't fall asleep. So... sometimes it comes off whilst I sleep and I am woken up by my DS, but sometimes it doesn't (and the DS alarm wakes me up), and sometimes I am facing in the opposite direction and its alarm wakes me up. It's a bit hit and miss really.

I do find that just having the lightbox on as I get ready helps. I don't feel the need to sit directly in front of it. But thanks for the suggestion.
