Hi everyone
I'm breathing a sigh of relief already - so good to find people who will understand.
Are any of you suffering at the moment? This dull summer is really affecting me, not sure whether to go back on the citalopram. I would normally wait until september at least.

Fingers crossed for sunshine.

Hi Nellie, yes I'm suffering too. I have to stay on my anti-depressants all year to have any benefit. Now finding I need the light box therapy all year too. You're talking about the summer - I'm asking what summer? It does help knowing there are others out there who feel the same.

I feel very good, but I use my lamps every day from 10:00 - 7:00.
My flat is too dark for me, not a lot of daylight.
And I take one 50mg sertraline a week, just for sleep and digestion.

Yes, I am suffering right now too and I cannot seem to get a hold on it. Last year was the best year I had in 20 years since last year I finally realized I had SAD and I thought everything was going to be OK with medication and light therapy but NOT. I guess I spoke too soon. I just hope I find out soon what it is going on and do something about it.

You may find every year is a bit different. Might be that weather patterns very from year to year, or something as simple as what is going on in your life or simply your physiology at that time.

You can count on folk here to offer support and encouragement getting through the hard times though. I've found it very helpful.

Nellie, I used to take medication when I got round to thinking i needed it, but last year I started taking it towards the end of September, the equinox is my marker! This year when I was on holiday at the beginning of August I was thinking maybe I should carry them in my bag so I can start when I need them!

Hello Nellie, and I am also a newly signed-on member. Not new to S.A.D. though lol. This summer(or lack of it) has not been great for me this year. Our light/sky has not bee great here in Glasgow, Scotland. My lightbox has not been put in the cupboard this year. I am feeling a lot better since stopping Mirtazapine, which was actually causing my severe apathy & starting 5HTP instead. As a retired RN I always suggest to a person to make their own informed choices/decisions, not just copy what someone else has done. Take Care!

Hi, I'm a new member and have had S.A.D. for as long as I can remember. I've never done anything about it except take a vacation to Florida every year in March. By that time I am climbing the walls. It is affecting me earlier this year, so I thought I would do some research to see if there is anything I can do about it. I've been looking at the lights. Can anyone tell me the difference between the cheaper and more expensive lights?

Hi Dana, Welcome to the forum.
I have been a member for about 3 years now, although I don't frequent it during the summer months, I tend to gravitate back come the dark nights and believe me where I stay it's dark lol.
As for the lightboxes I am not very knowledgeable about them as my friend bought me mine as a Christmas present a couple of years ago, I subsequently found out that she had bought it from one of the shopping channels, I am not sure if I am allowed to say that what with this being a Lumie based forum.
Although I do think we have to spend as our finances allow.
Hope you settle in a find something suitable.
