Is there is some sort of diagnostic test to diagnose SAD?

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows of a test that diagnoses SAD. My sister said her stepdaughter was diagnosed with narcolepsy, which is chronic sleepiness all the time, by a certain diagnostic test, so she has me thinking that she does not believe me and I thought if there was an actual test for SAD, that I could prove to her that I really do have SAD. There is no doubt in my mind that I have SAD and perhaps along with it a sleep disorder which I currently haven't sorted out but I just hate it when people get all hoity toity and think they know everything about something they do not have a clue about. I am a type of person who has to get the satisfaction in saying "I told you so". Kind of chidish I know, but it just irks me to no end.

I have used this before. In a bad year I might do it several times. Once when I start to feel symptoms, maybe when I'm established on my medication. Maybe a few weeks later to see if things have stabilised.

Please note the first paragraph that says it isn't a method of self diagnosis.

I would be interested to know if anyone else finds this helpful.

Hi ya donna and PI , hows it going..

Just thought id pop in and saw this hread, tried the test and it looks likeI get SAD alright (as if I didnt already know!!) Enjoyed finding out though

Sad is creeping in slowly butIve got it in check! Im still very active and able to resist carbs so things looking ok so far. Get a few days when I feel low and flat but combat that with 5htp, exercise and gardening - so no change there then.

Good to speak to you both

Me x
