Hi all,

For as long as I can remember I have had a difficult personality. Every spring as a child I would get into trouble for self destructive behavior. While during the rest of the year I was a model pupil.
Then as I got older I was genererally obnoxious and complaining about everything, I just fell asleep at work or went home and sat around (self employed)....Then there were the other days, when I was able to do anything, was possitive, happy and hard working.
I genuinly thought I was nuts. My head felt like it was in a big jar of treacle. and I would get these rages inside me that seemed want to burst out. I never EVER had a physicaly violent outburst, but verbally I would just lose it....
Then this year someone suggested SAD around about the end of april (09) and suggested I started taking a Vit B complex during the summer along with light treatment in the autumn.
The vits changed my summer. I havn't had a single bad day. Its been great, so I though "why waste so much money on a big light if the vits are working?"
Then in the middle of September the horrible side of me started coming out... I chatted to my wife and decided to get a light box. Its in front of me right now. WOW what a change.
I feel GREAT I can COPE. I get up miserable, and within 40 mins I feel like normal. I can think straight, I can read without having to go back every 5 mins and re-read. I even feel warmer physicaly (psycoligical, im sure)I wish I had know about this 30 years ago. And Ive only had the box 4 days. Joy of Joys.
Just wanted to share that...:-)

Great Colin, glad you are having some success with it. I would suggest a dawn simulator to wake you in the morning if you don't already have one. It wakes you gradually with a light and is a nice pleasent way to wake up instead of the dark and an annoying alarm belting out in your ear. I wouldn't be without mine. Take Care

I'm using a dawn simulator. It obviously is popular in the north west!

Well it worked today. I woke up with the bleeper at 6am. Normally I have the mobile go off at 5:45am and then a second alarm at 6:01 so they are ringing every 5 mins on snooze setting. Normally I manage to drag myself out of bed at around 6:20am~ish

Well today I just tried the 6:01 alarm and set the body clock for 6am. I woke up at around 5:50am naturally and saw i still had 10 mins and went back to sleep, then when the bleeper started I woke up instantly and got up, then 1 minute later the mobile went off.

Hope it keeps working that well, it will pay for itself in no time as I can leave for work earlier. (Self employed)

The dawn simulator really does sound great. Thing is, I get up one hour before my partner and this would wake him up hence why I can't use one.....nevermind lol!!

Hi Donna, Nice avatar

My wife kindly agreed to wake up at 6am with me to experiment if it is really going to help with my mood swings. (I think she would rather wake up earlier if it will make me less moody and give her a less stressful life, she's the best!!!) ;-)
